Automobile starter buttons.
My first car was a 1961 Morris Mini Cooper, and it had a starter button near the shift lever on the floor. Put the key in the switch and turn it, but to complete the ignition, one had to press the button.
My 2014 Mercedes has one. I hadn't seen one in decades!
Everyone who's been to Yosemite has one of these iconic shots. The Tunnel View.
I was just getting back into photography in 2013. Bought myself a Nikon 1 J1. A capable, but limited mirrorless 4:3 camera. I look at this and see how far I've come...
I love blue hats. Blue is probably my favorite color for a hat. I've gone from none to four in short order. Clockwise from top left: My Washington Nationals give-away, Hats in the Belfry pork pie, Dobbs Rosebud, Stetson Frederick.
Thank you! I just returned from my first trip to Costa Rica, and this was one of the highlights. Lighting was a bit difficult, so it's not a clear as I'd like.
True story: Years ago, a co-worker was giving me a load of grief about my carrying a pocket knife. "Why in the world would anyone carry one?" he asked. A short while later, he contracted a splinter in his finger, which he couldn't remove. I casually took out my Swiss Army Executive, pulled...
I have carried a knife since my father gave me his Swiss Army Executive, which was given to him by Hubert H. Humphrey, then Vice President of the United States. It was black with gold seal of the president on one side and Lyndon Johnson's signature on the other. I carried it every day until it...
I remember Banana Republic! I was amazed at the store they opened in Tysons Corner, an upscale mall in northern Virginia. I have a similar vest. Until your post, I never once considered it "vintage." My gosh, I'm getting old!
Grilled sirloin tip filets with redskin mashed potatoes. Here's the kicker: I just got back from Costa Rica where learned about their "national sauce," Salsa Lizano. drizzled some on the potatoes (I don't put ANYTHING on a good steak!).
Available at all the usual online shops.
Spacers already added. We're having Noah-like weather these days, so I'm not ready to wear them outdoors. Wearing them indoors while working from home? That's another thing!
I've not had much success using steam. To date, I've worked with my Akubra Campdraft open crown, using a tea kettle. Maybe, as some have predicted, I need to purchase a steamer...
Just got home from two weeks traveling to find much to my delight, the two Stetson Fredericks I had ordered. One in Navy, the other in Caribou. But hang it all, they are both too large! You can clearly see the label that says 58 / 7-1/4, but they fit large. Since I ordered them Long Oval...
I'm sad to report that I couldn't find any hats of quality during my trek through the Costa Rican rainforests. Even my photography suffered, in that bright tropical sun interspersed with dark forestry make a camera (and its holder) go nuts over lighting!
All the hats I came across were of the...
I decided to eschew fashion in favor of function. My travel packet said "a light hat with a wide brim and sunglasses are suggested for sun protection." Last year I bought this Stetson on sale for a measly $12. But I hated the way it looked on me, even though the fit was spot on.
