    Terms Which Have Disappeared

Don't forget the 5.25" floppy diskette, which the first PCs used, since hard drives were too expensive. (Image of IBM 5 Megabyte HD being delivered in 1956). As for "jump drive," I believe that's an offshoot of "jump box," which is what many organizations used to use for added security: Log...

    Terms Which Have Disappeared

Well, humor aside, flash memory and memory sticks are current technology. Even the youngsters know to what you are referring. Floppies are truly a thing of the past.

Lee Denim Jacket thrift store find

Oh, I am so tempted to jump into this potential flame war. But no, I'm going to be resolute and just move on... :p

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I just got word from Carrie at Thurston Bros. that a shipping label for my new A-2 is being printed. Now, I can start pacing the floor, waiting for its arrival!

Lee Denim Jacket thrift store find

While I was never truly into the denim jacket thing, this post inspired me to look up Levi's "made in the USA" jackets. I spotted one on eBay that looked really good and was my size, so it's now on its way...

    Terms Which Have Disappeared

"Floppy disk." If I had to guess, I think people today would think you were using a porn term.

I call this one "Wow!" It doesn't begin to capture the true sense of enormity of the place (John Ford Point, Monument Valley).

Tape Measure to measure around the inside of the Sweatband.

There's also this: If you know the size of a hat, you can figure out the circumference of the it (and thereby your head, if the hat is a proper fit) by multiplying it by pi. For example, if the hat is a 7-1/4, multiply 7.25 * 3.14. 22.765" is the circumference. Similarly, if you know the...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Two gripes I have with eBay: Color rendering. As a photographer, I'm particular that color rendering is done correctly. Frequently, I see black hats that look blue, brown hats that appear grey, grey hats that seem brown, etc. I've been looking for a specific color, and I just can't tell by...

Ask a question, get an answer

No online presence that I can find. I'm not aware of any trip coming up that will take me to or near Garland, Texas. Call them? Talk about hit-or-miss! :)

For the most part, yes. "Vintage Accessories" is a new one to me.

Ask a question, get an answer

I must be looking at the wrong section in eBay. I'm not finding vintage hats. Maybe my size is too popular?

Ask a question, get an answer

Thanks, Mike. I actually looked on eBay, and all I could find were Baileys, Jaxons, and one Stetson cotton waterproof navy fedora. I'm not looking for a dress hat, but it's my intention to wear a hat every day, so throw-away hats aren't beyond my level of sophistication!

Ask a question, get an answer

New question: Despite getting more positive comments than any other hat, I'm thinking of "replacing" my navy blue pork pie with something having a bit more brim (the sun is beginning to factor in more in day by day wearing). I'm not looking for vintage or bespoke, but maybe something...
