Haha, I doubt I need to do that. The zipper "head" is definitely some type of mechanical latch/hinge. I just need to figure out how to open it. The internets fuels OCD behaviors I never new existed... sigh.
I recently had a Highwayman replaced. I am thankful to Aero for the new jacket, but there are a few quirks with the new replacement. One thing that bugs me is the new puller on the chest pocket. It used to be a nice solid metal ball, but is now a tinny hollow ball with crimped tops...
I returned a black Highwayman recently because of excessive color fading. Aero (to their credit) sent me a new jacket from a new batch of black CXL and it has much improved dye characteristics. It's a big difference-- not just in appearance, but texture and feel of the leather as well...
As the poster who started the aforementioned "praise Aero" thread, lol, I have no qualms about this "bad Aero" thread. I think it is presented fairly. Also, just to remind everyone, my "praise Aero" thread began with a "there's something wrong with my Highwayman" post.
As someone else...
You should be able to tell Jerky HH from steer very easily. I have samples of the jerky HH and it has a completely different feel than the CXL leathers (horse or steer). The jerky is much lighter, and the top finish feels more slick and "plasticy" than the CXL. In other words, the top finish...
True... I think perhaps this is one of the reasons why Aero is distancing themselves from ultra-customized jackets. It's just too difficult to accommodate on a consistent basis. In the recent AL thread, there was another poster who had "custom" pains as well.
I've learned to limit my...
Hi, Green. I can't speak for Aero and I'm sure every jacket is unique... Also, since you purchased through Thurston, I'm not sure if that plays a role. But I have no doubt Aero will do whatever is fair.
That's a shame, Ripp. But it sounds like you were dealing with the old regime? I've primarily dealt with Holly and have only positive experiences with her and the Aero team. So far I've got the Highwayman and another jacket on the way. I'm sure I'll have a third Aero at some point.
Happy? Definitely. But really, I'm just relieved that Aero was honest and fair and took care of me. Hard to find service like that these days.
It took a long time for my original Highwayman to be delivered and I was hesitant to "rock the boat." Maybe I should just live with it, I thought...
Just wanted to give everyone an update regarding the color fading on my black CXL FQHH Highwayman. I sent it back to Aero and they looked it over and agreed that the fading is excessive. Probably an odd batch of CXL and an isolated incident. They made me a new Highwayman (in only two days!)...
Carlos, your LL jacket is one of the best fits/silhouettes I've seen for a traditional 50's/roadster/highwayman style jacket.
I'm still learning about pattern construction, but I suspected there were ways to adjust or scale a specific pattern size. Surprised Aero told you that a size 46...
I noticed on the Alexander website that you can specify shoulder width. How exactly does this work? For example, if I ask for a size 44, but with 18" shoulders, doesn't that size 44 pattern dictate the width of the shoulders (from seam to seam)? I don't have 18" shoulders, but just curious...
