By the way, according to an inflation calculator, my split cowhide rancher that cost $89 in 1978 would cost $351.29 today.
The $27.95 FQHH motorcycle jacket from 1950 would cost $298.46.
From now until Jan 2, 2020, historic Sears catalogs from 1896-1993 are available online for FREE via Ancestry.com. The catalogs are searchable. This is a fabulous way to research when certain jacket models became available, what they cost, what materials were used, when the models changed, etc...
Thanks. After handling the jacket, I definitely see what all the fuss is about when it comes to vintage Cal Leathers.
I have to credit @JMax for providing loads of advice on what to look for in a CL jacket. He helped me find this one. :)
This was a deal yesterday. The bidding shot up in a hurry.

Beautiful jacket, Terry. Very interesting coin pocket placement, and upon close inspection of the photos, I see stitching detail around that pocket as well as the adjacent zip pocket. Nice feature!
When you say the leather resembles shinki, what are you referring to, exactly?
We've had a stupid amount of early snowfall this year. So I guess shoveling snow is part of my routine now for breaking in my Schott 613SH as part of the FL 30-day challenge.
