Hey all,
today I received a... let's call it "safety copy" from The Maltese Falcon from a Bogart fan here in Germany, that I met through my work at the office.
It was a video cd in opposite to a DVD, but nonetheless the quality of the picture is superb.
I really enjoyed the movie...
Remember to specify real hatband when ordering from Schiff. Otherwise you'll get their 705 pattern - which is too coarse for a hat grosgrain ribbon.

Marc
Sharpey I've been trying to get a hold of excellent ribbon in the U.S., in the U.K., Czech Republic and in Germany... It's a pain in the butt, to be honest. I got samples from everywhere, but it's the "coarse" ribbon, that you see on some modern hats and it just doesn't do the felt any justice...
They will be the same white bridal satin that Steve uses in his Adventurebilts. In fact they're even from the same maker in the U.S.
Indiana Tom just reworked the logo to be SUPER sharp the other day, then converted it into vector graphic art and finally to a Mac file. I sent it to the liner...
If the fur is NOT from a "free-range, organically-fed beaver", it's no good. Best fur is from wild anymals and as far as I know it's not even possible to raise beavers in cages, so... ;)
Cheers,
Marc
The ability to tell the difference on felts comes with practice (as with most other things). In the beginning you can get a cheap wool felt hat from e-bay and compare it to are nice fur felt hat. You'll be able to see differences in the surface, the feel will be different and the weight. Push a...
After the kind support from the guys over at COW, the logo was slightly modifyed (the texts at the bottom where exchanged place wise):
I'm very happy with it now and hopefully so are you.

Marc
-I see... I have a modern version of a conformer which would enable you to trace the exact shape of your head onto a paper sheet, but I reckon without a formillion, that wouldn't be of any help :(
What experiences do you have with soft felt hats? - Do they conform after a while? - I know for...
Thank you for your post Roger!
Unfortunately I will not be able to offer them for 225$ with this felt, but I'll have to calculate the final price yet and promiss to be as fair as possible. I'm not trying to rip people off.
@nicolasb: once I get started, I could mail you three or four...
Just a suggestion here, but I'd contact a felter like for example Winchester and ask them, if it wouldn't be possible to have some new felt "built" into the hat. They'd probably refuse it, but then again, if one would offer them enough, they might give it a try.
They could (perhaps) cover the...
Quoting from Berhard Roetzel's The Gentleman - Handbook of classic man's wear:
"When the yet to become King Edward VII. was the prince of Wales, he once discovered a very special hat in the German health resort Bad Homburg, the "Homburg", which was manufactured there traditionally. The...
As I wrote on C.O.W. already, Charlie offers a 50% off of the retail price on the first custom made hat one orders. That being said, you could get the 750$ pure beaver for 375$ - which would be in that price range your talking about.
He also has several mixed felts, even with nutria, but I...
That's it! Dead on! Congrat with not only a mighty fine looking hat, but also the way it looks on you MK. It really suits you face.
You must be a happy camper.
If that picture you made would be a teaser pic for a new movie in cinema, I couldn't wait to see it.
Regards,
Marc
