Alright. This is my opinion as usual, and many will disagree to be sure. I think hat makers are still pumping out out brown hats with matching ribbons (or some black) because the ribbon material is all the contrast you really need. A cream panama w a brown ribbon would look fine. The other way... -

The hat shape, proportions, trend in color, and little black sweat scream '60s to my eye. Could it be 1950-'60? Maybe. Wear it well and keep stylin'. My long face doesn't support brims that stingy. My humble opinion. -

Can you dye a grosgrain hat band?
I guess I prefer the brim snapped up in the back. Imo, I'm also not a fan of the razor sharp pinch. -

Laugh if you must, but I'm done buying for the interim. I got 3 coming and my addiction is sated. I think it took 3 tries to reach the best maker, and felt and trim color combo. I not only got my feet wet, but I jumped all the way in. The maker said 2 to 3 months I recall, so it will be a while... -

I almost went with a smokey lavender trim for the binding, but I didn't have 'true grit', as they say. I'm really excited to see and handle this 50X Emerald Gray felt. -

Hufvud is all over my radar since I've been catching up on a few threads, so I ordered a 50X Bogie. The crown is the standard 4 3/4". Brim will be 2 7/8", not the normal 2 3/8". Sudan Brown binding, 6mm. The ribbon is a 1" Charcoal. So will look similar to this but with a thinner ribbon instead... -

I think any color fedora would be fine. Some people feel out of place in certain hats. I like to play peaky blinder sometimes. -

I shouldn't have said "we". I speak for myself only. Also, I believe Irish linen is a little heavier and would be something I would look at before deciding on anything linen, which is prone to wrinkle badly.
