    Is it 2008 or 1958?? - Retro marriage, 21st century-style

I have a book called Millionaire Women Next Door by one of the same authors who wrote The Millionaire Next Door. One way that some families attained millionaire status was by the wife running the family office: staying home and studying investments. Some of the women said they wouldn't have had...

    Team USA's Olympic Parade Suit

I liked the uniforms of the U.S., and I thought the French men's look great, too. The French women's uniforms suited some of them better than others.

    Long Vintage Hair

Yes, get a good haircut. Your thin hair will have more bounce and body with a good, layered cut. You have an oval face, so many haircuts would look good on you. I say, try a bob--that's what I picture on you. I used to be in the Air Force, too. Some short styles look better than others. Your...

    need some brutal honesty!

The third dress is the best. I suggest making it in a matte fabric, though, not satin. The shininess will spotlight curves that you might wish to camoflage.

    need some brutal honesty!

I like the halter dress with the slim (not skinny) skirt. If we're being brutally honest, I don't think the collared dress does nearly as much for you. The expression on your face in each picture says it all.

    What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes you can pivot in. Wear a skirt or pants that will flutter and flow. If you wear a skirt, wear something under it that you won't mind other people seeing.

    slippery floors....a modern phenomenon?

If putting something on the floor is the custom at a venue, and done with management's permission, I have no objection. But if it isn't, putting powder on the floor is like pouring water on the sidewalk in front of my house in winter just because I want to skate there. Back to the topic...

    Bring back old Hollywood!!

This was the subject of an article in the Wall Street Journal a few years ago. One premise of economics is that people are rational beings whose transactions give them the most benefit. Not all benefits are in dollars. A wholesome and profitable movie isn't likely to get a movie maker peer...

    Cocktail parties: Country-Style

Not Just a Sheriff Slightly :offtopic: I saw A Face in the Crowd and was surprised at how good Andy Griffith was at singing the blues.

Sorry, I don't have one online. The photo I linked to was actually someone else's. Maybe your library has a book on the Hearst Castle. :)

    slippery floors....a modern phenomenon?

I'd hate it if somebody broke a wrist just because I wanted a slicker dance floor. My floor at home is much slicker than where I go dancing. I don't throw anything on the floor where I dance, though. I just wear stickier shoes at home. Here's part of a thread from the yehoodi board...

Yes, but mine are somewhat shorter. For me, they're pretty much to avoid showing my panties.

Dance Classes-What to wear, what to bring?

I wear petty pants. I see other gals wearing other things under their skirts, but I've never asked what they were. Bicycle shorts, maybe?

Dance Classes-What to wear, what to bring?

I read this article. I'm not sure why they find t-shirts "extremely hot" and their wearers "just insane." I've never found woven shirts to be any cooler than t-shirts. Maybe they're wearing their t-shirts skin-tight. Avoiding silk and layering is kind of a no-brainer. Layering is what we do...

    Bathroom tile

Hearst Castle Bathrooms I looked at the booklet I bought at the Hearst Castle. I think I might have had some of the bathrooms mixed up. There were two photos: One bathroom had 3" or so terra cotta tiles arranged in a diamond pattern. The walls were golden tan and the fixtures were white...
