Something with at least one pocket!

Your man might be willing to carry a lipstick for you... but I have NEVER had anything stolen at a dance by using the simple method of putting my bag on the edge of the stage and sticking to the area of the dance floor close to the stage! You can also hide it under the edge...
The hard part will be not freezing, as if you wear anything warm enough to stand still in, you'll be boiling while dancing.
Wear the high heels! By all means!

The trick to dealing with this is layers. This may be one good time to forgo being a fashionista is favor of comfort and convenience.

Whenever I go dancing, I wear a pocket garter to keep my id, cash, lipstick and house/car keys in.

Benefit Cosmetics used to make a great one, I just looked on their site and couldn't find it. Maybe ebay?

Just google "pocket garter" and a bunch will come up, although a lot of the ones out there are "bridal" meaning overly frilly and white. The Benefit one is black and the pocket is slimmer than a lot of the Bridal-marketed ones.

You could easily make one too.

Cardigans were made for nights like this (if it's not a formal evening-clothes sort of event, that is.)

And you can tie a cardigan around you waist if you can't put it down!!

Oh geez! I didn't see that thread! I would have just mentioned that thread instead of rambling on!

No, your post was totally helpful. I had NO idea they were called "pocket garters". When I was searching for them, it would've been useful to have that term - instead I tried a million different search terms to find what I want.

I don't have one yet but will probably be getting the Bisadora one soon. I've also discovered that there are a multitude of these things made for carrying insuling pumps - pouches that attach to your bra, the inside of a jacket, that can be worn around your waist, or your thigh or calf. They run around $15 or less and can be found online at any medical supply place carrying insulin pump supplies.

My grandma used to sew pockets to a pair of underwear and wear them over her regular underwear and pantyhose. She traveled a lot and used these for money, passport, etc.

Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes you can pivot in.

Wear a skirt or pants that will flutter and flow. If you wear a skirt, wear something under it that you won't mind other people seeing.

I highly recommend getting one. It's so useful.. I use my Benefit one quite often. A friend of mine has the Bisadora one and it's really nice in terms of quality.

One thing I find though, is that I have to wear it rather high up on my thigh if I'm dancing a lot, or it sometimes feels like it will slide down my leg a little.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm hoping to go on an insulin pump soon, so I'll probably get one, or something similar, for that.
