C'mon guys, send me yours - I've got a sharp knife ready to go!:D :D :D

Truth is that this certainly was a nice representative of that albeit common style, but I've got several thin ORs and clones already. Because this felt is so special this hat is going to get a...
Yup.
I have since wetted the hat down and established a crease much like the sixth photo. The wetting allowed me to get that little hump in the middle of the crown necessary for a comfy ride on top of my head.

Sorry, no progress today. I had a double-header of...
That is beautiful.
I spoke long distance with Brent a couple months ago. We talked for an hour and a half. Simon would have never even thought to create such a hat if Brent hadn't encouraged him - and paid him - to do it. It is Simon's and Brent's Sistine Chapel ceiling. If/when someone does...
I'll PM you too but it was a synch using an Xacto knife with #11 blade and using the thin ribbon as a guide. I laid the hat on a cutting matt and just eyed it all the way around keeping close-ish to the ribbon edge. The other factor which now works to my advantage is I've trimmed a few brims...
AND HOW! Y'know, it's funny because I'm a thin one too and I have had the same qualms about a couple of my hats with brims as big as that Borso of yours. The Loungers and my gal assured me that it looked fine on me but I couldn't see it myself. If I look HALF as cool in my 2-7/8" brims as you do...
As you can see in these shots, I have trimmed the brim and removed the ribbon - but before I went further I did a number of dry creases just to see how malleable it is. Amazing!
Well this hat may not be everyone's cup of tea (Chiliarches turned it back to seller) but it is mine. Dinerman thinks it's '50s and he knows his stuff. I'm feeling like it's the earlier part of that decade at least.
{Chili': You have acquired some very nice fedoras, man, and you look...
I don't know about that but Bowlers/Derbies/Cokes certainly were. They were invented for mounted patrols who were charged with keeping poachers off a Lord's property. Their toppers were a hindrance in the forests and not helpful in a fall. In response, the Derby was designed strong enough to...
Brent Black told me that they are more, "marks of ownership than authorship". The weavers and finishers were (and are) mostly illiterate. Those who commission the hats and then shepherd them from one step to the next (often involving travel to different places) would mark the hats at each step...
That size jump sounds very possible for a qualified hatter. They will have to re-block it (replacing the sweatband and ribbon), and they will borrow a little of the brim width to grow the crown diameter.
Welcome, Alx17. You're getting good advice. I am a big fan of Borsalino's old ('30s - '50s) felt hats but their present offerings can be absurdly overpriced and of low quality actually.
PanamaBob (a member of this forum), Brent Black, and Optimo are worth shopping. Still a wide range of...
