black and brown is one of those pairings that is always controversial. most people instinctively say 'no' but i think (like blue and green) it can work, if done well.

there are no tab collars in my early 20s U.S. catalogues, but there's a lot of collars with buttons which would pull the collar back in the same way as the tab:

the coat in the window is almost certainly a vintage coat (from the Cabourn archives) used for the window display rather than one of Cabourn's made garments.
it's clearly seen some wear and Cabourn doesn't do artificial distressing.

inward facing pleats were fairly common on American trousers in the 30s.
after WW2 outward facing pleats became much more common in the U.S., especially on the 'Hollywood' style trouser (no waistband, dropped belt-loops).

it might just be the leather that the Alexander version is made from but it doesn't look nearly as nice as the original custom one that started this thread.
i notice they've reduced the number and style of buttons too.
