The pleats issue is unfortunate, but I agree that there is a bigger issue with the seat. Too much fabric for your bottom.
Wearing suspenders might improve the look a bit, but it would be better to have the rear seam take in more of the excess of the fabric.

The cut and fabric is very similiar to the Luftwaffe tunic, but it is neither identical nor an ex-Luftwaffe item. Luftwaffe didn't have scalloped pocket flaps (except on some costum-made tunics) or such distinct shar lapels. There are no traces of an eagle actually - probably just...
Wilhelminian (ca. 1880 to 1910s) frock coats are quite frequent on German ebay.
They sell rather cheaply... if it is a good size and condition maybe around 100 Euros.
30 - 50 Euros is not seldom.
Of course the deciding point is whether the quantity of things (often of questionable quality themselves) amount to a higher quality of life. To me it doesn´t.
Many commodities and ¨luxuries¨ have become cheaper, but in the end it is about expectations what amounts to a ¨good or successful...

It appears to be some nasty hot-glue that has soaked and hardened deep into the fabric.
Don't remove the belt loops. Just add brace-buttons on the inside.
For the 1930's and 40's it is period correct to have both.
The wearer could decide to wear either of them. Also suits with waistcoat from the 1930's had both belt loops and brace-buttons.
Your claim defies credibility. If making over 100 grand as a waiter is that easy and normal (and not a rare exception at some exclusive top restaurant), why didn't you become a waiter?
