Suit arrived today. What a good purchase I made here!
The fit is perfect in every single detail. As if made for me.
It's not too often I can wear a jacket or trousers without leaving out the cuffs.
A German sportcoat from Selb (a Northern Bavarian town near the Czech border).
Late-40's to mid-50's. Interesting tweedy fabric and beautifully straight shoulders.
No vents of course. It is in excellent condition and a size 42 with 25.4 inches sleeves.
The waist is nipped more strongly than the...
The suit is outstanding - something for the 1920's enthusiasts here.

What on earth is this about?
A tailcoat with velvet shawl collar... Appears to be 1930's.
I can't think of a purpose for this garment other than maybe a stage costume (a magician?)...
What planet are you living on? I am in Germany... the listing is by Orgetorix himself who is in Kentucky... that's what the Classifieds are for. A place for members to buy and sell items of interest.
No one cares whether you have a 1980's suit that has pleats and wide lapels... you...
Great suit orgetorix!
To begin with the modern Penney suit has tiny lapels while the 1940's vintage suit has huge lapels.
Also the fabric is different... as is the cut and everything else except that both are double-breasted.
And the pants are even more different.
To most...
Yup - and it's now returning home to Germany. :)
The pants shared the sad fate of many German 30's suits: tapered down during the 50's to narrow 9 inches and the excess cut off.
Also the cuffs were apparently turned in.
I will gently let out the legs to 10.5 inches and make faux cuffs...
