This certainly is beautiful. If only 4 inches weren't too much to take in on the waist.

Yes - it lacks any kind of labels or maker's mark at all, which makes me wonder whether it is bespoke as well. It is by far the nicest 30's suit I own. I've been wearing my trousers skinnier like the rest of the universe lately, but the drape on these bags is amazing. Thanks again for finding...
Bought this amazing suit from Baron Kurtz - the flannel fabric is amazing, and after having the hem dropped an inch, the waist let out just a bit and a small hole fixed on the pocket, the fit is perfect. Bagged on a hanger, and waiting for fall....
If you'd rather not wait for a good vintage pair to turn up, or if your feet are too large a size for most of the vintage pairs that DO turn up (like me), I recommend Allen Edmonds' Fifth Street. It' s a balmoral dress boot with a beautiful cap toe, on a vintage-esque last. They have it in...
Thanks gents. I credit this thread in part with helping me learn how to pattern-match. I think bold works, as long as none of the patterns are competing with each other, and there is at least ONE solid element...in this case the tie.
Yes - it was a "Groundhog Day" kind of experiment - first wool suit since April. I regretted it around 2PM. Will be sticking with summer suits for at least another month.
Thanks for the kind words, all!
Also Raymond Chandler's Marlowe story Goldfish (1936) includes this little bit of dialogue:

"No," I said, "to both your ideas. I never heard of the...

and in an average size to boot. Too big for me, sadly - but a beautiful cut and fabric nonetheless.

More expert voices than mine may weigh in, but I'd say relatively modern - maybe early 90's? Does it have a center vent or dual side vents? The patch pockets are an interesting feature for such a young blazer.
This is the challenge of the blazer - it is ubiquitous in the worst way these days. Takes some effort and panache to make it neither drab collegiate nor drab corporate. A good starting point is to avoid pairing it with khaki trousers. Finding one with HBK's vintage accoutrements would also...
