    Good question. According to this size conversion chart http://www.millerhats.com/hatsize.html 22-1/4" equates to in-between 7 and 7-1/8. I guess I'm used to wearing slightly shrunken vintage hats because most of my 7-1/8s fit more closely than this one. I consider it a loose 7-1/8 among my hats...

    Outside overall length: 12-3/4" Outside widest part of sole: 4-1/4" Outside narrowest part of sole: 3-3/4" Inside overall lenght: 11-1/4" Inside widest 3-3/4" (I have a pair of reverse calipers with which I believe I was able to get an accurate inside width measurement.)
