Better Living through Philosophy
May I suggest The Consolations of Philosophy by Alain de Botton (not to be confused with The Consolation of Philosophy by Boetheus).
Part of the review from Publishers Weekly:
In clear, witty prose, de Botton (who directs the graduate philosophy program...
Comments
I don't have weight issues, but I generally don't like comments on my appearance, either. Somebody once asked me to dance, saying, "You're too pretty to sit there alone." I guess if I weren't pretty, I'd deserve to be ignored. :(
Body for Life
Those who want to gain or lose weight might be interested in Body for Life. Basically, it's a balance of protein, carbohydrates and vegetables and an exercise plan of three weight training workouts and three cardio workouts per week. (It's about 3.5 hours of workouts per week.)...
That's nothing. In certain historical parts of Denver, you can't replace your old garage, designed to house a Model T, with one you can park your SUV in. This, in neighborhoods where you can drive for blocks looking for a place to park. In Greenwood Village, Colorado, HOAs have been known to...
Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Regardless, I think I'd rather use travelers' checks than check in with my credit card company if I were traveling.
Vigilance required
I don't think you can rent a hotel room or rent a car without a credit card. And I don't see how you can make internet purchases without one. There are also different laws that apply to credit cards vs. debit cards. As I understand it, if your credit card is stolen, you are...

That can happen anywhere. It's best to just say no thanks or that you aren't interested.
I think there are some threads in the Steamer Trunk section about different places in the U.S.
I didn't think you'd be thrilled at the idea of going to Utah. ;) Kidding aside, laws about drinking and smoking can vary from city to city. Closing times are just local custom in some places.
Why don't you go to Utah where you can't do anything but take a break from smoking, drinking and getting high? They have skiing, mountains, deserts, white water rafting, fishing, Dinosaur National Monument, Anasazi (Native American) ruins, and so on. And if you get bored with all that, Nevada is...
That sounds like my father. I don't think he's ever sat through a whole football game (is there a slower-moving sport?). He rarely likes movies and can't stand most shows, except for Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett.
You say ADD, I say "would rather be doing something."
It looks like we might have the same stubborn disposition, too.
Some of the ladies here look almost exactly like their ancestors--even if they think they don't!
This is one reason I'm not a collector. If I wanted a complete set of something (like every Cheap Trick album in every original format), I'd have to buy a lot of stuff I don't want and can't use (like a new 8-track tape at $30 and LP).
