Show us your 'vintage inspired' suits ....

Thanks for the advice and for having a look at your trousers. The difficulty is that if I do order anything, it won't be actually with a tailor so achieving the right look and fit could be difficult. I think my next suit will perhaps be from Luxire - I'll get them to copy a jacket and I'll have...

    What are you wearing today??

Thanks! Not vintage at all! One I had made a couple of years ago. Gratifying that it hits the mark though! ;) Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Show us your 'vintage inspired' suits ....

Here's my 'vintage-inspired' tweed suit that I wore the other day. It has a simple belt-back, single vent, and patch pockets, and the trousers are high-waisted, with a fishtail back and a rear cinch-buckle. It also has a waistcoat, but it was too warm even for me that day!

    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

Here's some more pictures of the details on that overcoat I posted previously. Stitching behind the collar Details behind the lapel. Seems there is basting stitching (forgive my ignorance if that's the wrong term) exposed. Also, in the bottom-left there is some hair coming through the fabric...

Show us your 'vintage inspired' suits ....

I remember seeing this thread when I was just a 'lurker'. I'm glad I've found it again. Do you mind giving me some details on your trousers TT? The sizing looks spot-on around the thigh, knee and ankle. What measurements do you tend to have to achieve that good-looking wide-leg? I don't feel...

Rabbit - Burton's had their own shops, as far as I know, and I don't think they farmed out their sales to outfitters. But I might be mistaken. I'm by no means an authority on them. Either way, the booklet is a bit of a curiosity!

Freddie - That suit is stupendous. My ideal suit! The cut of the waistcoat is an absolute dream! The cloth looks like morning trousers/'sponge bag' stripe? Very nice though. I can't help you with dating necessarily, other than to my eyes it looks 1930s (side buckle adjusters might suggest later...

    Fragility of wool trousers

I've just a pair of Abraham Moon fabric flannels wear-out on me (in between the thighs) after only maybe 20 wears? They were expensive. I'm very disappointed! It's a lesson into doing research about your cloth, and considering weight and thread-count.

My pleasure to share the booklet gents! Now if I could only get a hold of one of the suits it's talking about...! Rabbit - You're right, it is interesting the sorts of 'tricks' they used to try and get the good fit. Nothing too technical or overcomplicated. I suppose it meant that the shop...

A flawless outfit Patrick. Really superb. I particularly like the cut of the coat - I'd say it's the ideal DB style. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Spear point collar shirts

That's a good deal Dreamofgilgamesh! I might get on that. In fact, I'm tempted to get just the collar (not the neckband) and replace some of the collars on my normal shirts. Cheaper than having full spearpoint shirts made up! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

Hey they're lovely Esteban. Especially the Polkadot one, but the other is great too. I'd love to have a Polkadot Tootal cravat but they always seem to go for premium prices (for the obvious reasons). Good finds! :D Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk
