A couple here. The Gieves I've had for a while, the Austin Reed I have just got. Probably the two highest-end labels I've got. I wear them and feel fancy. ;) I love red ties too, so it's nice to have one in a good label. I'm assuming the Gieves to be early 1960s, and the Austin 1940s? Anyone...

    Spear point collar shirts

Thanks for the tip. looks like there's an old one for detachable collars, but not one for collarless shirts. I'll take some pictures of mine, and make a thread later tonight :)

It's got all sorts going on HBK! Here's that Montague Burton book: Sorry if they're posted in the wrong order anywhere - Photobucket decided to mix them up. Most of the illustrations seem to be from the 1920s (maybe earlier?) with the wing-collars, slim trousers etc., but there are...

That's a good point Freddie. Were there any pictures of the back? Because I'm thinking riding jacket now as well. With those buttons being close-set (although that's no concrete indicator). Single interior breast-pocket would suggest pre-1955 ish I'd say? The lining seems fairly normal/post...

Hang on, no, I change my vote. The rest of it looks way later than 1920s.

Very curious. I'm not sure how well the curved pocket works with the rest of the jacket, although when it's on it may take on a more 'curvy' personality (sloped shoulders, waisted etc.). How old HBK? 1920s for a guess?

    Spear point collar shirts

Fastuni - those are great shirts. With the brief mentions of collarless shirts - is there a thread to post collarless shirts on? I've got some nice ones with bib-fronts that people may be interested in. I've got a couple of white spear-point (separate) collars. I'll post them sometime.

Tootal - The Company History and its products (ties, scarves etc)

£30 all together. Beyond my price range but I guess for an avid collector... Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

I saw those too - they were a good deal. They didn't just have the tassels snipped off then? I have seen that before. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Show us your Terylene/Dacron ties!

Interesting. Especially it being made in London for a Canadian group/club etc. It's had rather a journey. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Thanks! No I get what you mean. It's kind of flecked and with a faded gradient. Not the usual pattern, certainly! Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

    Show us your Terylene/Dacron ties!

That's a curious one. Presumably a club tie, but I can't make out what that little animal is? Weasel? PLS is a good brand though - I've got a few of theirs in Terylene and wool. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

That's a dirty trick they played on you then! Are they allowed to do that? I can't remember seeing it - but then again I'm not as into the scarves as I am ties and cravats. I think £15 is about standard price really - it's what I tend to see them for in vintage shops. Sent from my GT-I9195...

Thanks for that TT! When's the photo from? I love collecting ties with independent shop labels on. They always appeal to me. Sent from my GT-I9195 using Tapatalk

Yes indeed! It's a look I've done a lot of times with another white silk scarf. Alternative to a collar or an under-the-shirt cravat. Have you seen that red and blue polka-dot 'Tootal Muffler' on Ebay? Do you have one of those? I assume it's an early one rather than a variation? Sent from my...

Thanks Hal! Sorry, I wrote it rather badly - the Vigorn is the two-tone, and the Welsh one is the middle one. It's nice that it's got that bit of history to it, as well as being written fully in Welsh! I remember going to Barmouth as a kid. Houses and Church mostly made of dark slate if I recall...
