    Dating borsalino liner logos

Aah, I would normally agree, but then I am eyeing up some other hats and just received my first Fed IV (my wife has a mormon cousin and got really confused as she did not know what open crown meant/is and thought I was saying something) so I am in crazy hat acquisition mode but did not win the...

    Dating borsalino liner logos

Hello, I have come across a Borsalino in a shop which is a little pricey but nice. Trying to work out if it is worth the price. The label behind the hatband says " T2327 7238 MACCI410". There is no liner, just a plastic diamond with the Borsalino label stitched in. Any ideas or am I just...

Is Naphtha called "WHITE SPIRITS" over here?

Thread revival - just wondering whether 8 years on, there is a view on how to clean hats in the UK, aka what is the naphtha UK equivalent please ?

    German & Austrian Hutmachers

Thanks. I am new to hats - or I should say vintage hats / non-modern production so question - do I use a hat adjuster or is it better to send off to a proper hat specialist? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    German & Austrian Hutmachers

Dermotta I found in a shop. Brim 2 3/8, open crown a little over 5 inches. Black but looks charcoal with black ribbon. Any ideas on age? I suspect post-war, 1949? The felt is wonderful, like sculpting material. It says it is 55cm but I am 56.6 and it fits me... just (without forcing it on)...

    Showcase of Non-Indy Federations

That's a great picture. I've been thinking about a diamond or C-crown (is that the same as a teardrop?), but for sure, the diamond looks very interesting. Is their a "how to" thread somewhere here or shall I just search on you tube? By "Big", I was thinking of the combination of high crown...

    Showcase of Non-Indy Federations

Resurrecting an old thread as I posted originally in the wrong place (ask a question but couldn't work out how to move it). About to order as my first Akubra a carbon grey Fed IV. Despite reading up through the various threads and having decided to go for the Fed IV, vaguely unsure given all...

Uh... yeah, so your cynicism may be well founded as I was actually arguing with myself as to why I should not order both... Let's not complicate things by throwing the campdraft into the mix. Argh, too late... maybe a carbon Fed and moonstone CD? Wait, no, stick to the plan... !

Thanks @tropicalbob, @Bob Roberts and @RJR for the quick feedback. I somehow misread about the Fed IV dimensions but having had a look at this again, absolutely agree. Now for the decision as a first fed IV on a carbon grey or moonstone / standard or deluxe but see that there are numerous...

Thanks very much for the kind welcome! I will try and move my post there and look forward to gently losing my mind over hats and other items.

Greetings all This is my first post (and a little long) although I have been working my way through the wealth of information on this site for a while. Having dabbled in hats at the general mass-market level in the past, and picked up a few contemporary fedoras in second hand shops, I am still...
