Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

I like that one. It shows some wear and use from over the years, but has held up well. You definitely got it for a good price.

    Shutter Island (2009)

Let us know how it is Quigley! I may try to see it sometime this weekend as well.

    Same here. Amazing stuff!

So...anyone planning on seeing Shutter Island just for the hats?

I'm looking forward to seeing it. It maybe a horror movie, but I enjoy those from time to time.

    Baseball Caps (in moderation)?

I have only three baseball caps in my collection. One I wear when out hiking, running, or camping. Another I wear on duty as part of my uniform, and the third one is a gift from a friend of mine who wants me to vary my head-wear every now and then to "actually look like someone my age". I...

    The Victorian Personals Ad

Interesting. This doesn't surprise me. I figured there had to be some sort of personals from times long past. It's just cool to actually see examples.

    Fedora Fatigue

So far I haven't seemed to tire of fedoras. I have quite a few different ones in my collection, so I generally can always find one to fit my mood. When I'm not in a fedora mood, I seem to be in a flat cap mood, and wear those until I decide to wear a fedora again.

    In Praise of FL Lurkers

I was hardly a Lurker...I joined FL at the drop of a hat. (nice pun, eh? ;) ) Congrats to the Lurkers though. May they all turn into full-fledged Lounge addicts in their own time!

A Collection of vintage Hamilton watch ads

Nice collection Berman. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm horrified.

Actually, now that I've stopped to think about it, I really don't think using a fedora as a flower pot would work. Not only that, but I think it would look tacky and ugly. Flowers should stick to flower pots, and good fur felt fedoras should stick to heads.

    Look what I won!

That's a nice one Heather. Let us know how your husband likes it after Valentine's day.

    Johnnyphi Hat Club

That one looks great Chinaski! I definitely like the ribbon on it.

    I'm horrified.

I remember hearing about those. It does seem to be common practice to take vintage things and modify them, or take them to the verge of destruction to create something different. I'm always an advocate for uniqueness...still, the idea of torturing a hat with nails or hot glue is just sad...

That Royal De Luxe is great! Though I like both of those "new" ones, thunder!

    The Wrong Hat

Some of my friends and family would say I always show up wearing the wrong hat! Especially the few friends I have who still wish I'd stop with the fedoras and flat caps and go with baseball caps. lol

Slowly moving away from vintage and on to Akubra exclusively.

Akubra Stingy Brim Well, after considering for a short while, I went ahead and bought the Akubra Stingy Brim fedora from hatsdirect.com. I got it in the mail just yesterday. Here's a picture of it for those who are curious what a stingy brimmed hat by Akubra looks like. I really like...

    Post New Hats Here!

Akubra Stingy Brim Well, for no particular reason (except that I decided I wanted one), I just bought and received an Akubra Stingy Brim fedora from hatsdirect.com. I like it. It's a bit more casual and snazzy than other fedoras I have. Definitely will be good for more casual...

Let's See Your Watches! The Vintage Watch Thread.

To elaborate on my experience with Paul just a little more, I first took that Illinois to a watch repair place here in Albuquerque, and after having it for a few weeks, they called and told me that they didn't have the parts required to fix an Illinois watch (they called it the "clicker", the...
