Ah,.. the Mai-Kai in Ft. Lauderdale. Used to live down there. Been to that place a few times. Vague memories of having had wonderful fun. :)
Interesting. I bet the fabric is nice but the lapels peak a little too low, in my opinion. Just too much top portion of the collar wrapping around and down onto the chest area. Takes a little of the 'pride' out of it, y'know?
The rest of it's eighty to a hundred feet (!!).
Here's the next day's worth of growth. Already passed me up in height - and we haven't been getting any rain the last few days. If that were the case, it'd really be growing!
Mallory hat, vintage Royal Creations Hawaiian shirt, J Crew saddles:
Thanks!! I went back and picked out two more of the packaged shirts today. That was it for the ones worth having. The rest are unpackaged and have age spots that won't seem to come out (I even took a spot-cleaning pen with me and tried it on 'em at the thrift store - no soap, so to speak lol ).
Nice little brass and marble sculpture. About a foot high. Very much like some '40s pieces a Hollywood prop house was recently asking several hundred$ for, but I don't remember there being any takers at that rate. I spent five dollars for this one. In any case, this piece pleases me when I see...
$2.50 for this old Atomic Era desk lamp. Poor old thing still works, but it's begging me to strip it, clean off the rust, repaint, polish... This one'll be a keeper and I'll show you the restored version in a week or several. :)
Old Dobbs Milan, '60s sport shirt, Florsheim bluchers. :)
Here I am next to a new bamboo shoot. About a week old and about six feet tall. I'll get pix next to this one over the next few days/weeks to show how fast it shoots up!
Perfectly stated.
I've been around here a little while now and still post plenty of ongoing questions in various threads on different vintage and style subjects. I appreciate it very much when it stimulates a discussion and information sharing. I try to 'pass it on' when the hat's on the...
Thanks for chiming in, Baron.
No pins, no tags, no prices.
I'm confident we've nailed these to the '60s, and I'm pleased about getting them. But I am still a little mystified why so many in similar/same styles and size, in new condition, Permanent Press, all with "C (space) F5 (five)"...
Gee, a banged up pair sold on the 'bay the other day for $40 plus $21 shipping charge.
Is it the money or the size guys? Or does this style run afoul of your tastes?
Curious... :)
I understand about that. See if they can do it without actually removing any material so it can be let back out later - just in case you fill out or want to pass the suit along someday...
I think it looks grand!
