Hi ButteMT61, I have , deal sealed today. Pretty scary though, first time I have spent this much money on a used jacket, from a guy (albeit a very nice guy by the sounds of it) a few thousand miles away!
The bad bit is I had a lovely informative email from John at Good Wear regarding the Star I...
Thanks guys and thank you Marv for the ebay link, very nice jacket. I am also looking at a Diamond dave A2 (combat treated, or some thing like that) on ebay. My size and looks fantastic in Russet cowhide. Just a bit pricy especially with all the taxes/postage, dam tempting though.
This idea has been in my head for quite some time now but in a rash moment i put in an order with Good wear for a Star Sportswear A2. Seal brown HH. I am very much open to changing this order depending on what John says. It seemed the Star would be a good choice for my build (slim) plus it has...
It's all about personal taste, there is no "best". I love my Horween FQHH and BK's Liberty HH. Yet to experience Shinki or Vincenza but i'm sure they are great too.
Thanks for your insightful and comprehensive thoughts Dudewetherhead. You have convinced me there is a difference in quality when it comes to JC jackets and the rest. I guess it is if we feel the wait/cost is justified. I am not sure on that score, maybe, perhaps. Cheers
I enjoyed your review of this jacket. I am a Harley rider and have often looked at the leathers in my local HD store but as you mentioned they all (and I mean all) seem covered in HD logos and/or silly skulls and flames, a real put-off for me. If I came across a nice, simple design like your...
I'm not as "learned" as most of you guys are on the finer points of leather jackets but when I look at my Aero Highwayman for example I cannot imagine the sewing could be any straighter, or the zip, pocket alignment, fit, quality of the leather and so on. So what is exactly is that John can do...
Couple of times I have nearly put in an order for one of John's jackets but the wait time has put me off. Question I asked myself, are Goodwear jackets really that much better than say Aero, BK, ELC, enough to justify the wait? I struggle to imagine they are.
Think the BK example looks very nice, as good as the Norshore for sure. Personally don't give a s*** how BK behave, they make cracking jackets and that's all that matters at the end of day.
I have been thinking of the Bootlegger too exclusively for riding my Harley. Currently using my uncool Cirrus A2. It does the job but don't look too good. Nearly went for a Diamond Dave 333 but in the end feel as some have said that these jackets are just a bit too much plus they usually have...
Thanks ButteMT61. Upload a file only allows me to download from my pictures. The A1 pics are on here the FL. Sorry best to do a search for it. Can't be doin with it!
I have a Bill Kelso A1 in seal capeskin. Lovely, comfy jacket to wear. The capeskin BK use has a very nice grain to it and soft/velvety touch to it. I love it.
Hi, no they would not replace it, not asked but its kind of my responsibility to check measurements and so on. Anyhow its on the Bay now, have one watcher so fingers crossed.
Thanks again
Mark
