Yep, I wear my trousers pretty low, at the hips. This is not by choice. Rather, my prodigious gut always seems to settle on that spot no matter how I try to pull my trousers up. This is doubly the case when wearing jeans. I have long since given up and wear my trousers at the hips all the time...
Hi all,
I've just received my newest Aero, a Type III jean jacket in soft black steerhide, which is one of their "test" apprentice jackets from stock. Less than half the price!
The soft black steerhide is *very* good. Broken in and comfortable out of the box, and showing a lot of grain. Pity...
For someone who has brought a Type III from Aero, what's the sizing on these? Are they slim fit or more boxy like a highwayman? (I ask because I'm considering buying true-to-size or one size smaller)
I really don't think it was scraped on something hard. Likewise, the leather hasn't been damp for a while, certainly not before I noticed this.
The best I can think if is my sitting position and that part constantly scraping against my desk, but my desk isn't rough and shouldn't cause that much...
The strange thing is I actually *have* dragged another part of the jacket across a rough surface (a shoulder seam through an unfinished concrete wall), and it looks nothing like this. See the photo of the other part in question:

Given this, It's very odd.
At this point I *hope* its just inadvertent wear. I would actually have no problem if that was the case.
Have sent an email to Aero with the pics, hoping this gets sorted out.
Hi all,
I'm enjoying my Aero highwayman (a bit under a year old) and its breaking in nicely. However, I noticed this patch of cracking/peeling leather near where my right elbow stretches.
This does *not* seem like patina/the top finish peeling off as I think the peeling is quite deep, almost...
My wife is a tiny lady. I had her wear the jacket once and she about tipped over :D
My wife does in fact know, and was appropriately horrified.
In any case, given the advice here I thought better against the plan. Just using a good old spray bottle to soften some areas gently, as suggested.
Hi all,
This might be a stupid question, but my wife and I are staying in a nice hotel for a couple of days as the building we're staying in is undertaking some repairs. The hotel has both a sauna (dry heat) and a steam room (wet heat).
I think you know where this is going... Dispense with the...
Posting a picture of the jacket sleeves:
From my methodical research (i.e. annoying friends and family), it appears few notice the sleeve length. I hope they would still crease up a bit though.
Soft as butter, but also undeniably thick and sturdy. It's hard to explain. It stays in place whenever you try to mold it, but will "give" immediately as necessary, especially in areas like the back of the neck. Ironically, the only stiff areas I've found was the lower area of the shawl collar...
Yeah, sorry about the hands in pockets, force of habit. Will get around to posting some pics of my hands out of the pockets, I just can't find the opportunity.
But regarding the length of the sleeves, in a neutral position they basically come as an arc from the base of the thumb ("knuckle" of...
Hi all,
I just received my second Aero jacket, an Aeromarine in seal goatskin. There were some issues regarding shipping, but Aero pulled in off in the end! (I would really like to thank Christine and the rest of Aero for their patience and assistance in pulling through with my order. Their...
Hi all,
On the heels of my first Aero jacket (Cordovan Zip-Sleeve Highwayman), I'm thinking of another one in a lighter sort of leather, which I can use as a travel jacket (It's true what they say that it's addicting). To round it off, I'm thinking of a more formal-looking style which I can...
@ProteinNerd
I sized down 1 size, with +1 inch to the length and sleeves.
Good to know it fits well, the only concern right now is confirming the leather type. Other than that, I'm all praises for Aero (and may even consider another jacket, perhaps in goat, later down the line).
And I received my replacement jacket from Aero (size 40, with adjusted sleeve and length). I would like to thank Aero for very graciously providing the remake.
I would like to ask the good folks here as to the fit:
Offhand, there seems to be a difference in the leather between the...
@ProteinNerd - I am already in contact with Aero. Holly (who has been very patient) said that she'll confer with her colleagues re. the fit in the pictures on Monday. I just thought it would be good to get some additional opinions as well.
@Seb Lucas - Nope, not only because I'm obsessed with...
Its tumbled cordovan FQHH CXL, and yes, it is amazing :) Aero really makes a quality product.
Really appreciating the advice, all. Am currently discussing the fit issues with Aero come time for the replacement jacket.
