Just gotta rant...vintage sellers who drive me nuts!

Often, people who are new to a business will undercharge. Good for you for not making her take a loss.

Does this mean I am getting old, or just finaly smartened up a bit?

Engaging a nut job isn't smart. Consider what might have happened if you had fought this person: you'd have damaged your reputation among your neighbors. You might have been hurt badly enough to need medical attention or have long-term problems. You might have ended up in court or involved with...

Just gotta rant...vintage sellers who drive me nuts!

Agreed. No doubt, a lot of time and effort goes into a high-quality listing: scouting estate sales (most of which are probably fruitless), cleaning up the item, taking good, taking clear photographs, writing a helpful description, shipping the item--how many hours' work is involved in bringing...

Just gotta rant...vintage sellers who drive me nuts!

This reminds me of what economist Walter Williams said to his wife when she complained about prices: "What kind of person pays unreasonable prices?" I know this is the Fedora Lounge, but has anyone ever had an emergency need for a hat?

Price of vintage on the up!

Have you told management about their embezzlement problem? If the management is the problem, have you alerted those in charge of this organization? If the clothing is overpriced, people will shop elsewhere--especially if they can get the same thing new for less money. *** Next.

Price of vintage on the up!

I don't know anything about Oxfam, but the purpose of charitable thrift stores around here (like Goodwill or ARC) is to help the poor and disabled with jobs, skills, etc. Supporting vintage collectors isn't part of their mission. If a rare, valuable antique were donated, it would make more sense...

Vintage Fruit Trees / Squirrel Killin'

I don't know when they came about, but county extension offices help with things like gardening, soil, canning, and pests. So do some state universities--Colorado State, Iowa State and Texas A&M come to mind. The last two have (or maybe had) rose breeding programs. Winter-hardy Buck roses were...

Question: Tipping in Restaurants, for Services, ??

Something like that happened to me, too. It's a long story, but I couldn't pay a full cab fare due to my own poor planning and lack of experience. The driver was very kind about it. I never let anything like that happen to me again. Considering that weather is unpredictable, flights can be...

Question: Tipping in Restaurants, for Services, ??

I don't know about servers here, but wages here in Denver even for burger flippers have been above the minimum for years. You can make more than $2 an hour by babysitting.

    The Poisoner's Handbook

"There are mornings," Deborah Blum writes, "lit by the cold winter light, when I start talking about a poison in my book, revealing my own dangerous expertise, and as I do, I watch my husband quietly, not really thinking about it, slide his cup out of my reach."

    The Poisoner's Handbook

Imagine CSI meets The Untouchables. This is a chronology of true short stories of poisoning, both accidental and deliberate, investigated by pioneering medical examiners in New York City from around 1910 through 1935. In those days, poisons such as thallium, cyanide, arsenic, radium, lead...

Question: Tipping in Restaurants, for Services, ??

If an order is wrong or slow getting to your table, it might be the cook's fault. Of course, good service would include the waitress telling patrons why their order is taking so long.

    Instant nausea inducement

That's not what I meant. The blue-collar men I know (that is, most of the men I'm related to) simply don't care about the motivation of hipster clothing choices. If I told my father about this, I imagine he'd say "Big deal."

He was from Oakland, California. Whatever benefit someone derives from military service, the purpose of the military isn't personal growth.
