    The 1950s shirt thread

This crepe rayon aloha shirt may date to the '50s. Among my other vintage Hawaiians it stands out due to its very short trunk, very short sleeves, and overall small size for a 'Medium'. The thing just has that old 'feel' to it too, if ya' know what I mean. Under collar:

    The 1950s shirt thread

I hope this takes off. Thing is, I've always had a hard time feeling confident about dating shirts to the '50s. Bare with some of us as we may post shirts that hit or miss around that era - - and YES, please post some of your treasures for us to admire! :)

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

That's a real winner, Salty! Funny; my Disney is one of a very few fedoras in which I've left the feather also. Something about the nice, tidy way they did the plumage on those...

Are these shoes 50s or 60s?

Very cool kicks, 'clicks. The leather quality of the uppers certainly rates up there with '40s and '50s shoes I own. If the heel were stacked leather I would say definitely '50s. Looks like it may be a plastic base though, which may point more to the mid-'60s, I would think. Either way, I...

    Mystery Shirts

Here's another that I'll put in here because I'm not sure what type of shirt to call it. Sport shirt? Work wear? It's the kind of thing the 'cool' skaters would probably go for, but I'm keeping it. Short, square cropped trunk with vintage plaid pattern. Untucked is the only way for this...

    Mystery Shirts

Well, regarding the old burgundy western one, I can't for the life of me find any place on it where I can bring myself to cut away even a small amount of fabric to burn test. It is so tightly constructed inside & out with no extra material hanging out of seams, etc. I did burn a bit of the tan...

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

And you're a classy gal. ;) :) Don't worry, the buyer got a good value but I also got a good price for it. Just one of those you think back on now and again... :)

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

Oh, and I had this night shirt briefly, but it wound up being trade fodder in a vintage gear swap with a Lounger.

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

Here's one I actually use often. All silk. All my jammies are blue schemed so this coordinates.

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

This one's got some age to it. Obviously a smoking jacket. Finely done red corduroy. No tags. I wear it once in a while but mostly it spends its time covering my shirt form when I'm not photographing something on it. {The ascot is a vintage Baar & Beards of Japanese silk on one side and super...

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

Then there's this one. All Poly'. Bought it on a lark to see what it'd fetch on Ebay. Tripled my money :D , which isn't really saying much. The buyer had a screen name of 'Studio54discostud', or some such. lol lol

    MEN'S PAJAMAS and DRESSING GOWNS

I sold this awesome vintage robe to a Lounger some months ago. Sometimes I question that move. All acetate. Heavy, well built and luxurious.

    What are you wearing today??

Well, we always need another hat ;) but the grey fedora with the browns and reds below is smashing. Pops just right. Doesn't try too hard. A brown or tan hat would make that particular ensemble monotonous, in my opinion.

Interesting stats - - and cool looking boots. So you got them at a thrift store?..

    Vintage Spats....

Rats! I'd buy them for $20 if they did fit over a 9-1/2 shoe. That's what I'm actually looking for, although not in a rushy sort of way.

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

Ha! Not sure how well that would work, but for measuring one's head to find hat size, it's very handy.
