Famous (and not so famous) OR wearers...
The OR is one of the more prolific hats of the 20th century. I never realized how many people wore them, adn am just curious to see how many famous people have been seen in an OR. Here's the few I can think of offhand: Truman Ike LBJ...- plain old dave

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard
Well, I always park a felt on its crown to preserve the shape of the brim, and somebody at work asked me what I was taking up a collection for. All aside, I think my new OR is the perfect hat for me as I get 80-90% pro and maybe 10% con. Usually people say I look like a Texas Ranger...- plain old dave

flattening the brim on an OR?
Finally got me one and the brim rolled up a mite in shipping... I have been resting her on the brim inverted and letting gravity have her perfect work, but it is still a bit more rolled up on the sides than I care for. I like the turned up brim and the 'cattleman bash', but would prefer the hat...- plain old dave

Open Road or lookalike...
A loose (i.e. stretched) 7 1/4 would suit fine... Honestly, a natural 7 3/8 is a little loose for me. I like a hat to be snug enough to never blow off.- plain old dave

New hereabouts, and am wanting me one of these. I am of the understanding that several companies made hats that were almost identical to the OR. I like the OR, but am having a time justifying $125-150 for a hat with the Queen (wife)... Been trying to find me one of the lookalikes with no joy...- plain old dave
