@Big J - I settled on the XL. They used to make numbered sizes, but switched over a few years back.
While it fits me decently, it would be perfect if I were less long in the arms and torso.

I have the Pike Bros (olive, not black or blue) and it's a swell jacket. Very warm.
I think @Edward 's idea of them being "for the crew" sounds reasonable. Probably no point in everyone owning one and space is at a premium on a ship...
It's a great piece to have - and I don't even get to wear...
I've had jackets too small and too large, as Goldilocks would say.
"Just right" - hard beast to capture. I rarely zip, but a jacket has to be able to zip (meaning, comfortably).
If I were flying - and I go with friends throughout the year - a baggy jacket is not cool.
But, if you look at WWII...
Without a zip, it's tough. The shoulders from here look good.
But also, would you normally or often wear it zipped? It's preference at some stage as to your tolerance for snugness and how you want to look.
Thanks for the numbers...but, I literally have not bought a worn a sweater for years. How much give would I place in the measurements compared to a shirt or jacket, etc? I would need a 25.5-26" chest, and I know this will stretch, but I don't want it to be so tight as to ruin the look...

Dude, it's the me all the time online generation. Literally obsessed with posting up pics of themselves or vids, or whatever. Need constant attention. Jacket is still cool :)
