    How to travel with hats

Found a hat guy in Atlanta

Seriously, If I could find the equipment, I'd go into a side business of hat restoring/repair...not sure I'd want to do the custom hat making part but that is probably the lucrative part that keeps the doors open.

Looks silver belly to me, mid to late 50s or early 60s. Wear it as it is. JMHO Sent from my QTAQZ3 using Tapatalk

I get felt squares from the craft dept at Walmart for 50 cents a square & cut them into sizing strips. Also, wet the sweatband & felt around it & let the hat dry quickly in a hot car, some put near a lamp with old fashion light bulb. It should draw in from 1/4 to 1/8.

    Akubra Campdraft

Even if you shape with just distilled water, steam it after shaping to set the crease if just holding it over a boiling pot. The heat reactivates the shellac which stiffens as it cools. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

    Cancelling Hat Orders

You are talking a bespoke item that is to your specification. Lots of custom hatters don't have a brick & mortar store to "put it on a shelf" to sell to somebody who may come by with your size noggin & taste in specifics. You entered into a contract, verbal if not actually written thru emails...

    Akubra questions

The Heritage is a denser feeling felt & I wear an older Imperial without the liner in warmer weather. Besides the Fedora Lounge special in Bluegrass Green, the Moonstone is my favorite color but it is only available in Heritage from Hats Direct.

This lid is off the chart! The Cane Rod Maker has exceeded all expectations in adopting his new craft. To me, he is now CLM = Custom Lid Maker!!! Just plain AWESOME!

Vintage Silhouettes Custom Hats - Official Affiliate Thread

Thanks Moon. I have 1 in Pecan ArtLite as well. I'd go to 5 3/4" open crown if I was ordering another. Art also made a Playboy replica for me in Granite ArtLite, same but no edge binding on a 2 5/8" brim.

Vintage Silhouettes Custom Hats - Official Affiliate Thread

My pleasure Moon. It is ArtLite. It is a Stetson Wanderer replica. Brim is 2 3/4" bound with 5 5/8" open crown.
