As members of a forum that exists almost exclusively to present photos of us wearing various items of overpriced clothing, it rarely crosses my mind to insult others on social media who do the same.
As a member of a forum that I may well consider to be an integral part of the ‚leather jacket...
To each their own, I guess. And every hide has its time too.
CXL FQHH was my first love in leather, and like most first loves, it sticks. If I want ‚comfort‘, I am sure, Patagonia or The North Face will set me up with something totally ‚toasty‘ and ‚useful‘.
I don’t wear CXL stuff all that...
Lately I have been very impressed with NUDIE Jeans. They are from Sweden, offer some eight or so different fits, all kinds of selvage denim and start their prices at an outrageous EUR 160.
(For those who are looking>: size down one from your usual Iron Heart size, i.e. waist 34 instead of 36; I...
Lovely.
I wouldn’t worry about comfort. I have an oxleather belt from a local shop (Kreis Ledernanufaktur in Offenbach for those who care to look) which is 8-10mm.
It’s an absolut monument of a belt, but can be worn without issue.
I disagree to some extent with what’s been said before:
- Aero‘s 1950s patterns run big, so I always size down one to achieve a fitted look. The pattern easily forgives that without appearing like a „naturally oversized pattern bought too small“.
- SB generally run a bit larger than Aero‘s...
Weˋve Got some pretty cool jobs here!
Agree with @MrProper: very good functional fit for the motorbike. As a pure everyday wearer, I would go an inch shorter.
+1 on all counts.
Great jackets, even if the price is high. Have a look at the exact leather they use, as they sell (almost) all models in different variants ranging from from "affordable but underwhelming" to different shades of "expensives but gorgeous".
I have found (most) Y2 patterns to be...
I am pretty sure, Aero used Talon/Hookless, because of Ken‘s preferences.
Of course, his contributions to the quality leather scene for decades cannot be rated high enough, but he could be stubborn with regard to customer requests he viewed as a departure form the pure path.
I fully belief...
True this! Bought an new Explorer II in or around 2012 and got 10% off. In 1995, a Pepsi was still under EUR 3.000. AND you could just walk into a shop and buy it. It’s now EUR 11.000. Theoretically… ;)
Chiming in here.
Somebody pick it up, please. It’s a very good price for a great jacket. I have the same as a ‘Type 1‘ and can verify that the leather is gorgeous
Yes. I’ve entertained the idea of getting a NOS mid-80s Pepsi for a long time. In the end I couldn’t get myself to pay the mark-up on the current model…
I kind of agree.
Many makers are shying away from the heavy CXL and will only assemble thinner alternatives that lack the deep luster of the thick stuff.
Johnson still uses it and Simmons Bilt used to, but the later are now charging a ridiculous “penalty fee, so I guess that doesn’t count...
