I totally get your disappointment. Not what anybody would have expected from Greg, especially after his run of seemingly perfectly executed jackets.
One can only assume - and this is not meant as a justification - that Greg was really preoccupied with other issues.
I will say that the jacket...
I wish this was still the case.
Shorts past the age of 30 is just another nail in the coffing of proper style. Unless on the beach, or while exercising, of course.
I recently saw a colleague in our office-canteen with bike-shorts. The tight onces with the leather inlay. Asked if he needed...
Although @Marc mndt is usually right, I would still try with shoe polish. I would indeed use the cream as a topcoat of sorts, for it will still darken the leather.
Of course, this will wear down with time but can be repeated. I was suggesting this as a fairly easy remedy which shouldn’t take...
You can use cherry/cordovan coloured shoe polish. Try on a hidden spot first (inside of hem?).
Biggest risks that the colour will not darken The leather evenly but will appear streaky.
AFAIK, the hem is exactly the same in the „T“ as in the regular fit. Of course, it will look different, if the hem sits on the hip and not above.
The Lightning is a boxy fit without any taper. Of course, it looks dramatically different than a V-shaped jacket like the classic Perfecto or else...
I can’t comment on the right fit for you. My rule of thumb would be
- LL fits pretty much true to size.
- for Addict I would size up one (and end up with a slightly larger fit than the LL)
- I would look at the “T” fit from LL if I am of slender build OR just want more length in the torso...
Ideological bias aside, the LL “tight” fit has an elongated body for the same P2P.
This of course is nothing to frown upon, but just a nod towards clothing preferences for those who feel that tall, slim guys deserve a bit more length without having to go for a boxy fit.
Thurstom Bros. does it...
I DO like Addict (as evidenced by my contribution to this thread), but this is hard to understand.
Addict copied patterns from LL, Belstaff and Barbour, so they are all about execution and absolutely nothing about „modernity and innovation“.
I agree. Unless this thread is intended to be clickbait, I see little gain in going down this road again.
And I am sure the moderators can think of better weekend activities than having to monitor yet another Himel-thread for closure.
I don’t mean that as a criticism towards the OP and the...
You guys crack me up! Are you saying you can spot a fellow-countryman by the fades on the denim?!
Unfortunately, no jean-pocket would be suitable to hide a 1-liter-beer-glass, so I need to disclose my germanness by bad mood and cynical comments...;)
I agree in principle :).
Yes, LL is not about being a "grain monster". I just feel that the standard horsehide has deteriorated over the years. I have a Lightning of older vintage with a very nice, subtle hide that still has that typical "LL shine"; later jackets I have had (or have handled)...
Neither LL nor Addict are particularly tapered in the way, say a Perfecto is.
As I said before, Addict is a bit smaller than LL in the same tag size, but the pattern itself is similar.
I have had both, and my 2 cents would be:
Pros for LL:
- standard sheep is a great hide
- the veg-tan hides looks spectacular, although I havn´t handled them in person
- customization options
- brand appeal
Pros for Addict:
- standard horsehide MUCH nicer than LL standard horse
- hardware...
