While in Kobe the other day, we came across the Open Air Brewery’s tap room, so decided to go in. We sat in the small downstairs area. I started with a glass of Night Walk Coffee Stout, Etsuko an Open Air IPA.
Both very nice, though the coffee stout was not quite as good as the Minoh Brewing...
Wearing the new Black Cherry Hornskov for a trip to Osaka & Kobe. Same hat tomorrow, so I’ll try to get some photos in natural light. For now, some pictures in our hotel room.
Thanks Jim. I tried, but couldn’t for the life of me get it to tighten up. Finally, I pulled it the other way and it tightened up right at the front of the hat. That’s when I realised…
I needed to flip it over so it tightens towards the back! Thanks Bob. Problem solved.
I specifically...
I’m inexperienced with wind trolleys. Up until now, I’ve only had one hat, an Akubra Campdraft that has one. The one on my new Hornskov seems very loose. Is this necessary for actual functionality or is this odd?
Finally got to open the Hornskov up. Very happy with it. I love the black cherry colour. The midnight blue ribbon and wind trolley look almost black in the room’s light. As tall a crown as I own. More pictures of the details coming in the next few days, but for now, I’ve got a chook on the...
No such thing as spring cleaning in Japan; it’s nenmatsu no ōsōji - The big end of year clean up. I took the water blaster to the windows, stairs & a few other grubby bits of the house. My Snowy River looked after my head. It handled the water and flying debris with aplomb.
Glad to have that...
Not drinking it today, but I bought a ticket in a whisky lottery a couple of days ago. Everyone gets a bottle, but you don’t know what you’ll get until it arrives on your doorstep. I paid 6600 yen plus 600 postage. I didn’t get the Hibiki 30 I was hoping for, but I’m pretty happy with the one...
My final contribution to the Stingymas celebrations. This Christys Exclusive Kent Fur Felt Trilby was my first fur felt hat. It remains my stingiest at 4cm.
Christys’ appalling customer service was also what gave me the push to sign up to the Lounge. Being new to hats, I didn’t know if I...
Today’s Stingymas contribution is my Lagomarsino Nutria. Nothing much new to see in my collection of stingies. They fit under the seat of my scooter, so they are my regular work hats that I’ve already posted this season.
Is the Hills Boater from Hill's Hats in New Zealand? How's the quality? I do want a Boater at some stage, but I'm a bit nervous about buying such a stiff hat without trying it on first. It would also be nice to have a hat from my home country.
Today’s contribution to Stingymas is the Knox Flying Cloud. This is possibly my favourite stingy, but Etsuko isn’t a fan of it, so it has entered my work rotation.
The obligatory Flying Cloud liner shot.
Thanks! I purchased the Campdraft and the Fed IV together and they were my first (and so far only) open crown purchases, so being my first attempt, I struggled a bit to get them how I wanted, especially the Fed IV. The Campdraft brim isn’t snapping down quite like it used to. It tends to pop...
