I just cleaned this one up, will try a shave with this one in a few days. Gillette Slim Adjustable "New Aristocrat" for Japanese market. Will you believe that this one only cost me $15! Far better condition than I had expected from the pictures I saw when I bought it. The blade the original...
Just got this Aristocrat in and WOW!
Best shave I've gotten, been using a Merkur before this and I don't know if it was the different blades or the razor, one of the nicest shaves I've had so far. Using Barrister and Mann Seville and Astra blades.
Also very minty condition, I paid big bucks...
I don't think it's fallen out, looks like they did backstitching to lock the stitch at the end but just looks like it's not done neatly and not going back through the same stitch holes as done on the opposite arm. Do you have closer pictures?
Longest I would do is 26" for a cross-zip, that's how long my Vanson Model E is and that's also my limit I think. I prefer them medium-short length for the typical styles I think of.
What threw a spanner in the works was that I really dig that Langlitz you posted, more of a different style with...
If you want a high quality one, Kanaya Brush out of Asakusa do handmade ones where the bristles are put in by hand. They also have cheaper ones that are put in by machine, I have a few cheaper ones from Kiwi and Trimly and the difference in texture, density, firmness of bristles, uniformity of...
I have long torso and short legs, I think I still prefer medium or short jackets since it makes my legs look a bit longer with how it breaks up the outfit visually. I still like my Model E, it's quite long but I would love an older pattern C2, the modern ones are only slightly shorter than my E...
Trojans are my jam, I really wanted to check out the one Junk Vintage had in Osaka, but they were closed when I went. I will try look at it next year!
How does Trojan generally fare compared to other makers of the time? They seem way more scarce and priced much higher accordingly., their...
Being from Australia it's weird. Often you get quoted about $100 to get it here from the US, sometimes higher for express up to $150 by DHL or Fedex priority or something like that.
On the other hand to get a jacket shipped standard out of Australia by the local post service is cheaper often...
Depends, how early and how good condition? It is on the high side but I would pay that for a really good condition Red Label, I've also seen a Star Glove go for around that price as well, and those are rarer.
Not the most exciting leather in the world but the arm creases are set in extremely nicely, nice teacore as well. I think it may be time for a coat of Urad or something on the high wear areas a little, but hard to get Urad in Australia.
Finally got around to tightening the side laces as well...
Which shop did you get these boots at by the way, I might check them out!
That reminds me of the Kapital tool for buttoning up stiff denim, I'd be worried about it getting snagged on the eyelet stitching or something though.
I've tried a M.Mowbray's cream on my boots which made them super sticky and tacky feeling, probably because of the conditioner they used, but from looks that definitely looks like leather.
