I've had my C&R for years. I definitely understand what you mean. Big difference between a hundred year old Smith and Wesson in clean shape or as you said "semi-skilled" labor!
Interesting thread, I usually dress in what would be called "old fashioned" shirts, twin pockets, epaulets on some, khaki style pants most days and older style boots. My fedora or cap and a leather bomber jacket round out the look. It has nothing to do with Indiana Jones, more with Roy Chapman...

Wartime production MNs often have rough chambers which makes extraction difficult. A useful trick is to take a 20 gauge brass brush, wrap it in brass wool, dip it in acetone, hook the whole thing in a drill and scrub the snot out of the chamber. it made a world of difference on my 44.
