I've always found that the easiest way to find old threads on specific topics is to just go to Google and type in what I'm looking for and add "thefedoralounge" to it. There have been several threads on the Adventurer, most of them comparing it to the Federation IV.
Some people say don't do it because it makes the felt stiff and sticky, other people say it's absolutely fine. I have no personal experience with using Scotchgard on a hat, but Scout felt hat protector in my experience doesn't change the feel of the felt, at least when used in moderation.
I don't think there will be any negative consequences. The hat will breathe better without the liner.

I somehow missed this post earlier, SlyGI. I don't have an Akubra (yet), but the Stylemaster and the Federation IV are the ones that are the most attractive to me, and moonstone is definitely the color I would get. I love teardrop crowns. That's a beautiful hat, man--good job! You might need...
Thanks again! It's funny, my first pair of Clubmans, you know where I got them? Walmart optical center. That was years ago, and I haven't found any there since. Now when I need new ones I just order them online from whatever vendor has them at the best price.
It will not. Young men will buy cheap, ultra-stingy, ultra-tapered cloth or woven paper Target trilby hats, then toss them aside when that trend becomes old hat, if it really becomes a trend at all.
Thanks! No, the glasses are the ArtCraft Clubman model. I also have a pair of Shurons that are almost the same that I use as a spare. When I get a new prescription I usually rotate them and the main pair becomes the spare and vice/versa.
The different colored ribbon isn't a defect; it's there for aesthetic effect. The fur looks basically unpounced. I'm not the most knowledgeable about these things, but pouncing is basically sanding, smoothing and finishing the fur. And I think they would call that a "long nap" fur.

Just got it in the mail today from Hat Guys in Oakland. I like it.
See the "Post New Hats Here" thread for my impressions of a first-rate experience with Hat Guys.
The Baron looks nice, but I don't know if it's worth the price unless you want a boater with a taller crown than the usual 3 1/2 or 4 inches. Baron's looks a bit taller than the one in the Public Enemies clip they show, and the weave doesn't look like the ones on vintage straw boaters to me...
Welcome, Bluesman61! I, too, have a Biltmore that I got recently, a pork pie, and I love it. We've had some snow and rain lately, and it's held up really well, although I haven't gotten it completely soaked. I did give it a spritz of Scout Rain & Stain Protector before letting precipitation...

I shot this in the small bathroom downstairs because the light is pretty good in there. Yes, I have a small collection of cowboy memorabilia (my size 7 3/4 head is blocking the view of the Hopalong Cassidy AM radio) in the bathroom. Doesn't...
I also recently acquired a jones for a straw boater, and I'm also a 7 3/4. I just ordered an Olney from http://tailsandtheunexpected.co.uk. Vintage wasn't really an option. I shopped around and couldn't find anything better for the price in that size, and many of the ones that were twice as...
