I agree, if it's that old and the ribbon's still in good enough shape that it doesn't have to be replaced, don't mess with it.
When I get my Battersby, I think I might get a grosgrain ribbon and bow and fit it over the leather hatband that's already there, or do you think that would show a...
I just won this boater by Battersby of London on OFAS. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320507599745. The weave looks really nice even with the less than optimal photo quality, and I'm hoping the seller was reasonably accurate in their sweatband measurement.
Anybody...
That just made me wonder--has anyone ever done a "reverse Optimo" crease that pokes in instead of out? I'm trying to imagine it, and what I'm imagining isn't very appealing.
I've heard good things about the straw Whippet. I haven't seen one in a XXL or 7 3/4 or else I'd probably have ordered one already.
I got a Pinzano (although on the website it says "Ozark") milan straw teardrop fedora from Hat Guys that they call the "Truman" style...
That's my fault for not paying attention. I missed the "standard" part. As far as modifying a modern landline phone to have a ring like vintage phone...you got me.[huh] I would think that maybe you could take the ringer from an old phone and hook it up to the modern phone.
Most cellphones (at least ones I've had) have classic phone ringtones built in, or you can download them. I have an iPhone, and the ringtone I use is called "Old Phone." It sounds reasonably close to an old phone.
What I've had in mind to do is see if I can set up voice dialing so that I...
I'm OK with the crown height, but the Baron's right, your face wants a wider brim. Of course, with a wider brim the crown height would probably look out of proportion to the brim, so in that circumstance I'd probably agree with the Baron on that too.
Thanks! :) The seller was obviously not very knowledgeable, so I emailed her (I'm assuming it's a she, sexist I know;) ) and asked her again if the measurement was the circumference of the sweatband on the inside of the hat, and she replied something to the effect of, "Yes, I measured 24 inches...
Battersby Boater
Let's hope the seller's measurement holds true, because if not it's going on the 'Bay or in the classifieds.

Forgive my ignorance and my hijacking the thread, but what do you mean by the scotch tape method? I've used a couple of small pieces of scotch tape to hold the cloth measuring tape in place against the sweatband in order to make measuring easier. Did you mean to use the scotch tape to measure...
FFF, that only resets the machine IP address. What's being blocked is the IP address assigned to your internet connection by your Internet Service Provider. The easiest way to reset that is to turn off your router and modem for a few hours.
Try unplugging your modem and router for several hours, that should make your ISP generate a new IP address for you when you turn them back on. The question is, why is your IP address blocked in the first place?
