    Vintage Computers

I've still got my Commodore 64 with monitor and disk drive that I got for Christmas '82 or '83. I haven't hooked it up in a few years, but the last time I did it still worked.

    Sizing advice

Heh, just got a follow-up email from the seller. She found the size tag under the sweatband, 7 3/8. She was measuring from where the stitching is attached, not from inside the sweatband. So her initial guess of 7 1/4 wasn't far off.

    Sizing advice

My mind's made up, passing it by. Thanks for the advice, fellas.

    Sizing advice

That sounds like sound advice, and definitely has me leaning towards passing this one by. I've always disliked geometry as well, this only makes me dislike it more.:rage:

A new way to measure a hat

4spurs, thanks for the reply. I moved my question out of this thread and created a separate thread, here, hoping to get more bites that way.

    Sizing advice

I have my eye on a nice vintage hat from an online seller, and although there is no size marked, the seller did front-to-back and side-to-side measurements and had it listed as being 8.5" by 7". I'm a size 7 3/4, and one of my hats that fits me measures just a hair under 8.5" by just a hair over...

    Hats, Sweatbands and Hair products

I swear by my own mixture of two American Crew products, Pomade and Fiber. Good hold, nice shine but not greasy-looking, and it washes right out. Plus, you have control over the balance of hold (Fiber) and shine (Pomade), because you can use more or less of either product depending on the...

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

Maybe it was just a Milan that was rebuilt by Art?[huh] Regardless, that's a lovely pork pie.

Ask a question, get an answer

Not that it's a registered trademark for them or anything, but "Genuine Fur Felt, Made in Canada" embossed on the sweatband seems very Biltmore to me. Maybe Baron was a Biltmore wanna-be. [huh]

Ask a question, get an answer

Looks similar to the Biltmore logo, also from Canada. Perhaps a Biltmore sub-brand or something?

    Boater faction!

I see what you're saying, but take another look. It looks to me like the image is just low res and was badly cut out, making it look as if the crown is tapered. See what I mean? It looks essentially identical to the Tesi boater sold by Bencraft: In fact, I'm not convinced that...

    Boater faction!

No Olney Boater for Mr E Train OK, it turns out that I'm not getting the Olney after all, through no fault of the seller. On March 23 I mailed back to Wales the size 62 that was too large in exchange for a size 61. I emailed the seller (Tails & the Unexpected) last night to ask if they had...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Hereward, if you're viewing your Photobucket album as in Michaelshane's photo above, just click on the image, and then you'll get that pop-down menu as you see in the photo. Click on Direct Link, which will highlight the link in that field, which you can only partially see. Once the link is...

I'm going to make it a priority to visit it in the near future.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I'm anxiously awaiting the replacement Olney that I exchanged for the one that I returned because it was too big. I'm also anxiously awaiting the vintage Battersby of London boater I won on eBay. Come on, Royal Air Mail, let's move it!

    Post New Hats Here!

Does Scala make them with different colored bands? I've only seen them with the standard red and blue guard's band, I think. Or were you planning on getting another and just changing the band yourself?

    Boater faction!

It looks good either way, but I think tilted back suits you better.

    Boater faction!

Totally agree. I wasn't sold on the combination with the polo shirt at first, but it took me about two seconds to get my mind right. See my comment in the What Hat Are You Wearing Today? thread also. Don't forget to show that off in the Post New Hats Here thread too, e.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I like. Proof that attitude trumps tradition. Who needs a bow tie and a blue blazer when you can wear a boater with that kind of conviction with just a polo shirt?

    Boater faction!

:eusa_clap I've been anticipating this one! Looks great on you, e. Try posting a pic with it pushed forward on your forehead and level with the ground, let's see how that looks. I like either way, but there's a school that says that pushed forward and level is the "appropriate" way to...
