I agree with Mr. Jones: wear what makes you comfortable, otherwise it will looik like a costume (no matter what you wear).
Almost all of my ties are vintage and I wear them with everything. Many of them are quite vividly patterned but they go well with quite conservative suits. I've never...
Making a great vintage find certainly makes my day (I have a few gorgeous period neckties that cost less than a dollar! That is a stellar day!!)
A good book, a good cup of tea and the time to enjoy both.
Family and friends (cliche, but true)
Great thread, Wild Root!
According to my dad (who was in his early 20s then), not much! Fabric was rationed, If you were lucky, you'd have a couple of suits and a couple of pairs of shoes; and you wore them until they wore out.
For what it's worth, I wore them once to a fetish party (don't ask!) I decided I didn't want to wear black leather like everyone else so I wore a pair of vintage style boxers (Brooks Brothers' French Backs), a singlet, vintage police boots and black socks and garters. The response --from both...
I have a couple of pairs of these. They're not as uncomfortable as they look. (That's not to say that they're really comfy...) I would never wear them with white sports socks, though!

Just found the "museum" page on the 20-40s club website with the window shopping section.

Marty,
I don't smoke, drink or gamble either but was "dragged" to Vegas last summer and had a fabulous time!! Definitely take in a show (we did the Follies Bergere; it was great and [relatively] inexpensive!) Walk a lot, there's so much to see. If you have time to rent a car and drive out to...
I suspect it would depend heavily on the tailoring. I think a well tailored coat with a fur lining would be not that different from a regular coat: very sharp (and very warm).
