Here in Astoria Queens, everything is fine - far enough from the river to avoid flooding, new electrical infrastructure from the recent blackouts held up well. Mostly it was a wind and storm surge event, not much rain. But many like me are going to be off work for a while - subways probably...
MEK! - Yikes! - might as well throw the hat in the fire and inhale the fumes - it'd be healthier that way.
I'd opt for the "peel it with your fingers, cover the scars with a wider ribbon" method. No one cares what's under the ribbon....
Want a blue fedora? Here's a recent thread talking about just that:

There are many blue fedoras less than $150 that should suit your needs.

Wow, I wish I could find this hat, so I could kayak with a little style....
Great thread, this, and I agree with TonyB re: nice old hats with generic renovations.
Yikes! Thank you my friend - the brim width is 2-3/16" - original listing is now correct.
It really is nice, if I thought I could stretch it successfully, I'd be keeping it.
This is a nice fuzzy hat for fall and winter. The finish is medium long hair, the color is dark tan - I believe it’s Borsalino Taupe. The felt is fairly thin and takes a center dent and side pinches easily.
Brim width is 2-3/16” and it is flanged fairly deeply. The ribbon is dark brown, 1-3/4”...
Agreed, and kudos to the on-set costumer for not obsessively making the clothing look perfect from one take to the next. I always liked the fact that the junior detective creases his hat so he will look like the boss.
Yeah, that pinch is not my taste either (although I like the flattened brim). I think there was more variety and personalization in creases back then, so it seems right.

Hi Tom - I have a Borsalino long hair that is too small for me that I've been meaning to list for sale. It's marked size 62 (my size) but I'd put it at about 60.5, i.e. just over 7-1/2. It's tan in color, nice malleable felt, brim 2-3/16". The brim is deeply flanged, as you can see in these...
I stumbled across the Stetson Vulcan in navy blue at Bencraft - I've noticed it before, but forgot about it. Yet another blue hat with a wacky ribbon treatment....
http://www.bencrafthats.com/product.php?pid=520&subcname=Stetson
I like the hat, but hate the ribbon treatment. I'm guessing the felt is nice from the high price.
One thing I like a lot is the lining - this is from http://www.villagehatshop.com/stetson-tehachapi-loop.html
That suit looks like it would be complemented by a pork pie hat in black or very dark green. But a medium or wide brim, I think, not stingy. Oh, and you might want to carry a trumpet around too...
Custom hatters who use a conformer (e.g. Art) are generating a template based on the actual noggin of the customer - I believe this qualifies as 'bespoke'. Others who are making hats to a specified pattern and size are doing MTO as you say.
I have a friend with a midnight-blue tuxedo -- it is gorgeous, and looks distinctive and rich when surrounded by black.
Any of Christy's fedora styles can be ordered in their navy color, e.g. from

Well, it sounds like you need to get to an allergist to see if she is actually allergic to something, and determine what it is. Who knows, maybe she's just allergic to dust, as you say, or dry cleaning solution, hopefully not allergic to you personally......
