The Range has become my everyday hat because I like 3" brim and the No. 11 profile which doesn't seem to be used on any other Stetsons that I'm aware of.
Anyway, I'd like to get another Range but in black rather than the SB that I have now.
The Stetson web site has it as being available in...
After reading your post I did this with a Stetson Range that was about one size too big. It fits perfectly now although it took two attempts at wetting the band and drying it out. No negative effects to the hat either so thanks for the information.
My Stetson Range came with a small feather and I've left it on there because it doesn't bother me and it's the way the hat was styled by the factory so I'm leaving it stock so to speak. Sometimes I wear this hat with a pin strip business suit so perhaps the feather isn't quite right with that -...
I only have westerns and no one says anything which is the way I want it. Been wearing a cav hat with black acorns all winter because it has the chin strap if needed. One thing I have noticed though is that the guards at the courthouse never check my ID when I roll in so I guess they remember...
OK, thanks for the information.
7.25 and 7.75 I guess are easy enough but when Noggin Tops saw 6.875 as one of their sizes using this system they should have realized they were going down the wrong road with decimal values..lol
I was going to order an Open Road straw from Noggin Tops but the size chart is something I've never seen before.
Sizes list as follows: 6.875, 7.25, 7.65 and 7.75.
Their other hat styles are listed in the usual format like 7&1/2, 7&5/8 etc.
Anyone know what's up with the unusual sizes...
My hands are fine and I can play fiddle/bluegrass stuff on guitar faster than they need to be played but I think this is something to do with the guitar - profile too flat maybe. I should probably use the other guitars more might take the load off but this D-18 sounds like rolling thunder and I...
Yeah, I'm getting a little concerned about that myself. Been playing more than 45 years but the last 7 months or so I've put in a lot of time sometimes 6-8 hours in one go and now I got a cyst on my left wrist and a little pain in my left elbow. When I was younger I could play for days at a time...
Some restaurants / bars can be a problem. I also have a 2010 150 and the hat just goes on the dash because the headrest is high and leans forward to where it just about hits the back of my head.
Martin 2012 D-18 bought about 6 months ago:
Ovation 1974 Balladeer in it's case and a couple of others in the background:
I'm including myself as an instrument since I sing...lol
Great post, thanks.
Kick-ass guitar music in the first one too.
When I see them being made like that I figure a 4x beaver cattle hat is well worth the $200 or so that it'll cost.
Not many things left these days that are still the real deal.
If you are near Toronto, Herb's Boots has about 10 Akubra styles to choose from and they also ship:

They have two stores just north of Toronto. I was by there last week and tried some Akubras on - one was a perfect fit, maybe...
