Is everything period correct? - No
We were trying to create as much of the feeling of World War II for those who came by and visited our encampment.
When the GI's hit the beaches at Normandy there was fear of a "gas attack" accordingly the trousers and wool shirts had gas flaps. Also their overgarments, i.e. HBT's were coated in a gummy stubstance to close the pours of the fabric from gas. The 101st Airborne landed with gas masks.
Unfortunatley they didn't get into the theater. Much the same as reenactors who use swivel bale, rear seam helmets, French Boots used as American Combat Boots (Double Buckle), etc It's all about degree of authenticity, everything is up for grabs
As you pointed out these are the only ones...
If your interested in reenacting you have to find a unit and/or organization where you live. So in order for anyone to direct you... what area of the country or the world do you live?
The topic of mustaches and to an extent sunglasses was an outgrowth from people posting reenactment photographs in this thread

Reenactors will tend to rathionalize something they want, including sunglasses and mustaches
Thanks for the tip!
Bases on that set of links, my wife found "Playclothes - vintage fashions" in Studio City, CA. And fell in love with several dresses in the 1940's style.
Another nice, but short live series was "The Gallant Men". I picked up the series on DVD. As for Combat! on DVD you can find it look around.

It's one thing if you made one patch for yourself. The problem is with exposure. You have to involve a company to make the patches, so there is exposure. Next is the guys in your unit, wearing them, there is more exposure. Finally New York is a very popular place, so there is the potential for...
My Wife are going to a 1940's World Era event. I'm set, but she needs some places and ideas.

P51, no hard feelings, I understand the nature of your, critic, i.e. to stimulate discussion and point things out. I can answer for a few things.
1. German Halftrack. As you know there are really NO German Halftracks, outside of museums. All reenactors use post war Czech OT-810. Some groups...

On the other purchases, the converters came inside with the pen. None had markings.
I found a website that sells them with no pictures and their own internal part number.
No doubt it was a well made movie, well directed, well set up and filmed. But it bares absolutely no relationship or comparison to the original. All he did is made his own movie and slapped it with the old movie's title, and threw in some camo roles to tie the two movies together.
The...
I recently purchased some blue/black quink. I noticed that after a few days of not using the pen, the ink will start out a faded lite green tinted blue, rather than the deep blue/black.
If I start writing the color comes back, but never as rich. I reloaded the pen with fresh ink, and of...
