Granted, most of my time in the USAF has been in the summer time, but WWII was WWII. If you issued a WWII era A-2 to a modern airman, he'd think it's too short, too confining and subpar compared to their nomex. The jacket is like anything else, made to modern tastes – and I certainly wouldn't...
I had the incredible fortune to get chicken pox about 12 years old. I had precisely THREE chicken pox! Not bad or itchy, and my doctor confirmed I had to stay home from school several days while I enjoyed myself watching old movies and eating candy. :) I'd hate to deprive my children of that...
OK, I know I'm late to the party, but I have fond memories of mucilage from my days in the newspaper's art department. Still useful after all these years!
Most things Barbour quoted me on were $40 or so. How odd they wouldn't have the attachment points...I've been meaning to pick up a hood for my Beaufort for years. Just never seemed worth the shipping though...
I just picked up Wildroot, which does not provide the wet look. It works wonderfully to keep hair in place while not feeling like you have anything in your hair! I may even be able to use it in the Air Force, where hair products are forbidden, as no one can tell when you are using Wildroot...
I eat extra shipping cost all the time, but thats because I try to keep my costs low. Unfortunately, something like this might cause a normally cheap seller to jack up prices - as I will no doubt have to do if I keep underpricing the shipping.
My three month old daughter, our first, is named Audrey. While I thought naming your children after actresses is silly, naming them after the most beautiful woman to ever live, is fine. ;)
I can vouch for the heat sealing properties. They'll melt your feet off in the hot Alabama sun. Thanks for the heads up on the other authorized shoes – might have to pick up a set – even though I haven't worn my blues in forever.
Can we get you your own forum section with a little "Ask Lizzie Maine" button?
I get the feeling you know even more than this, yet it would exhaust you to type it all. ;)
You're a true FL resource, and I thank you!
I also begin to see the wisdom of such a way of moving also...but alas I...
As I get ready to move EVERY. SINGLE. THING. I own, I ponder how they did this in the 40s – cardboard boxes? Wooden crates? Obviously there were fewer household possessions, but what ways did people move from place to place in those days? Rail?
More curious reflections as I rest weary legs...
So glad to help! It seems often I can't find too much in terms of news to benefit the community. I am in total envy of those of you with the radios. I'd murder someone for one of those - well not literally.
Glad everyone's enjoying them! I still haven't gotten a chance to wake up to mine to...
Found the normally $40 Moon Beam clocks closed out at Big Lots for $15. Look really art deco and light up to gently wake you followed by a vintage style bell ring. Neat stuff - normally sold by LL Bean and Restoration Hardware. Also another 50's repro clock is being blown out at $6. Good luck!
