I usually don't have much success with a second-day set, my hair is too fine and thick to be curly the next day without setting it again, but last night I tossed it up in a bun and had pretty decent waves when I woke up - decent enough for a day in the office, anyway.
Sh*tty cell phone quality...
Two purchases and a gift. Another vintage blogger friend of mine got this vintage hat, but was too small for her head. It was a little tight on my noggin as well, but it'll do after I get my hair thinned (I hope). Today I also managed to buy a matching skirt:
I also found a 2012 Gil Elvgren...
Today I was at an assignment where two women - one a school teacher, the other a yoga instructor - were doing courses in schools as a part of phys ed. It was their last day and as a trust exercise, the Grade 4 students did an angel walk where students would shut their eyes and walk down a row...
My everyday hair is pretty straight forward, just a sponge roller set overnight:
It gets pretty curly, so tonight I am trying it with larger rollers (eep!). Wish me luck!
If I am lazy then I leave it straight / unwashed (I have to set my hair every night because it is so thick and fine)...
Morning
6:25: Wake up, groggily check Twitter. Think of reasons I'm excited to be out and about today. Wash face, brush and floss teeth and start shower for boyfriend.
6:40: wake up said boyfriend, stand in front of my closet wondering what I'm going to wear. Assess possible assignments and...
Oooh, fabulous photo, I love the colours and your hair looks so healthy! (I love the sharpness and the lighting of the photo too :D)
I have a middy/hair question - I have THICK, heavy hair that is fairly straight and fine. I can curl it no problem so long as it's mostly dry when I put it up...
The town I grew up near in Saskatchewan had 3 Radar towers on the Canadian Forces Pinetree Line during the cold war. Alsask used to be an army base (CFS Alsask) and a booming town in the 70s when my dad went to school. Now it's a almost a ghost town - the base, including barracks, church...
Yikes! Good luck with the home renos - I'm sure it will be beautiful and well worth the trouble when it's all done. How many bobby pins do you think you've found so far?
I keep mine in a little yellow melamine pinch bowl in the tray in my train case. Really handy and I can just take the bowl in...
Yikes! That's why I'll just be using this one for show.
Upon closer inspection, this one has rubber handles and it has MARCEL and REMIER stamped on it. Made in Germany.
It also came with some very very scary-looking thinning shears. They will also be 'display only'!
In my dream home I'll have...
My co-worker loves going to auctions and he found me a vintage curling iron! There's no way I'm going to use it (I can't use modern ones for crying outoud) but it will be proudly put on display. AND only $2 :D
My boyfriend and I are notorious for leaving our costumes to the last minute. I grabbed some fake blood from the pharmacy, put on a old black dress, ripped hose and bow in my hair and went as a dead doll.
My boyfriend had a black turtleneck, cigarette holder and beret handy, so he grabbed my...
Thanks all! Right now ModCloth is out of those boots in my size, hopefully they restock soon!
To keep with this winter theme I see that Miss Ashley of LFS has done a great video on wearing vintage in the winter (http://bit.ly/v2XkAj) and also linked to The Freelancer's Fashion blog's take on...
Erm, L is snarky to G and I. I didn't lay out clearly who was saying what, did I? :D
But thanks, it always makes me feel better to make sure I wasn't being a witch. When you grow up without a ton of socializing like me, sometimes it's hard to tell how I come off to people. Either way, I think...
Ughhhh Winter! It's already getting to be in the high minuses at night and single digits (in Celsius) during the day here in ole Alberta. I'll be perusing this thread more and more, all season long I suspect.
I was thinking of buying these boots from ModCloth, what do you ladies think? Are they...
I had an interesting exchange on Twitter today with two women I follow - one a journo in Edmonton and another journo in Calgary. Despite this being public online I'll use G and L (I'm Laurie_Callsen) for brevity etc. I added it from bottom to top instead of top to bottom, sorry!
(This is the...
A co-worker of mine bought a typewriter for me at auction ($6!!) and I'm wondering if you can help me date it.
I've scoured the internet looking for a photo of this model but to no avail. It's an Underwood Elliott Fisher, copyrighted between 1895 - 1927. I assume this one is dated between...
