Here's a question. Anyone ever buy from Goorin Bros? I am liking the look of their website and I've the mind to go check out their Boston store when I go back to school in the fall--my wardrobe's been kind of revamped this summer with two suits, a number of dress shirts and some new pants, a few...
My grandma introduced me to this show when I was much younger, ha. It's still a favorite of mine.

Also, All in the Family. They still show it on TV Land on and off, and I love that show too.
Very true about the watch. I never used to wear one (a wristwatch) before high school but now it's gotten to the point where if I'm not wearing one on a typical day at school (college), I feel lost or naked or both.
I'm a bit of a film lover. It might be It's a Wonderful Life for me. But there are still many others I want to see from the past, like The Big Sleep and Chinatown and also Casablanca (so please don't spoil them for me, ha). I also enjoy contemporary movies, but not all of them. Some are just too...
No iPod, or iPhone, or anything related--though I did buy music on iTunes once.
No tattoos/piercings
No hair gel or whatever else
No pants or jeans that purposely came with holes in them
I have t-shirts but it seems I hardly wear them anymore--my friends told me they only ever see me...
When I was really little I was into trains. I had a huge wooden train set, the kind where the train cars attatch to each other by magnets. I had that as far back as I can remember--that is, I can't remember when I actually recieved it. After I got just a bit older (even before I was 13) I got...
That's the thing. It's popular online, where people have this percieved anonymity... so, the internet has also contributed to this decline, I think. But like a lot of things, the internet has both good and bad qualities.
In person it's different, as Tom found out, hah. Like a deranged nut...
That's a great post and I can identify with a lot of what you're saying: my family have said the same things at one point or another!
I'll add an anecdote to the critique of modern culture. My mom's family came to America from Greece in 1961. A few years later my grandma and grandpa opened a...
I'll add a Boston-area gem that I came across to this thread. The Coolidge Corner Theatre is an independent, non-profit cinema, built in 1906 as a church and converted to an "art deco movie palace" in 1933, the community's first movie theater, never closing its doors since. "...a non-profit...
Thanks for the help, boys. And yes, I'm actually pretty picky with making sure the suit fits well--but both the lady in the store and my family were amazed at how I picked my size suit off the rack and the jacket fit perfectly! Didn't have the jackets tailored at all, just brought the pants in...
Came across this thread and realized I've got some listening to do. Thanks, guys.
Also thought I would contribute a little bit. I shouldn't have to tell you who inspired this modern group (right down to the different hair colors, haha). Their music can have a more modern sound to it than some...
Last semester at school, I decided to try and redeem myself for looking like an unkempt slob for much of the previous semester. I didn't wear a suit every day, but what I did do was I would wear jeans with a nice dress shirt (tucked in), and I'd wear a heavy brown sportscoat on top of it. A...
