Great choice of hat, certainly looks more expensive than the price you paid. Wearing it well too. Need to add a brown hat to my collection, shame there's no BCF in UK.
You are correct MudInYerEye
St. Patrick was a fifth-century English (or perhaps Scottish) missionary to Ireland. Scholars agree he is a historical figure and that he converted many of the pagans on the island to Christianity, but dismiss most of the legend that has developed about him over...
Whether reincarnation happens or not, I would not like to say, but apart from feeling "right" about things 40s, movies, clothes, music etc I do have a recurring dream over the past 40 years or so, that continues to this day.
I'm being shot at by an enemy aircraft, and that I'm diving for...
favourite year?
Has to be the 40s for me. Although born just after it in 53, I just sometimes feel I was there, in a deja vu sort of way, if that makes any sense.
Staying with John Thaw, if you get the chance you must watch "Goodnight Mr Tom" Set during the second world war, where a young evacuee comes to stay with him in the country. I guarantee there will not be a dry eye in the house, and it's one of his finest performances.
Hi, I joined in February this year and have made a few posts already before actually coming across this thread.
I was born in 1953 just after the the era that fascinates me most, the 40s and WW2. I like to learn and try and understand all aspects of it from the politics, the innocence and...
You must be very well pleased with your collective items there! The RAF flying boots look excellent. As you say, that ensemble is the perfect avatar:eusa_clap
Give them time. I find people will often dismiss at the first instance, even if it is something they quite like, but do not have the confidence to do or wear. Over time, they will get used to the idea and probably will follow suit eventually. They will most likely ask to try it on at some point...

Dr Kildare
Just Dennis
Mr Ed
Rawhide
The Invisible Man
My Friend Flicka

Danger Man
The Fugitive
I work part time as a TV/Film extra, which takes up only a little time during the month. I am also an exam invigilator at schools where the kids think your'e from another planet if you dress smart, and if you wear a hat they need personal therapy to get over it!
Prior to this I was an Air...
Great weekend in May every year is the 40s weekend at Haworth in Yorkshire, England. Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters with all the history that can be seen in this village.

Now I understand, I see your picture of those great shoes. Yes, must certainly mask off that canvas because you'll never get the polish of it otherwise.
Hi Cookie, not quite sure what you mean. Does the shoe have a toecap/captoe?, if not then yes I think I get what you mean, if you want a straight line across the front then that is the best thing to do.
I guess you can get hold of Kiwi shoe polish in Sydney, it's globally available, but it is...
These are a selection of my better pairs of shoes.
The left pair are some Tim Little London plain shoes, and the right hand pair are also plain fronted shoes by Crockett and Jones
The black pair of Oxford ToeCap shoes are my RAF issued parade shoes which are made by Church/Cheaney but...
