There were many errors that all compounded into a serious tragedy that day. As you said Paisley the KLM co pilot questioned the Captains decission.
There was a mis-hearing of the words negative and affirmative, spoken in English and being understood by American pilots, a Spanish controller and...
Just a sad note from today's internet London Times newspaper.....
Remembering the world’s worst aviation accident-
The world’s worst aviation accident happened on this day 30 years ago. Two Boeing 747 jumbo jets collided on a runway shrouded in fog in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain...
OMG, I thought I was the only adult watching Futurama, then I discovered you lot do too. I thought I was having a mid life crisis, but I feel better now. Bender just cracks me up.lol
This reminds me of the time 23 years ago I had the (dis) pleasure in telling him that due to bad weather in Belfast, his flight would have to divert to Dublin, and that he would be roaded north to Belfast. As it was Christmas Eve, it was thought better to get the passengers home, and not have...
It's the changing the times on all the electrical appliances that becomes a chore, then the digital watches, when you have to find the operating manual in 10 languages, to work out how to do it. Much easier with the old wind up watches.
I worked for an airline back then and we had three quarters of a million pound damage to one of our Boeing 727s when the storm went through Munich. The noise in the aircraft was unbelievable and just glad it was on the ground.

"If you could invite anybody - from past and present - to a dinner, which 6 people would it be? Why? And what did you expect to get out of such an evening?"

Pol Pot of Cambodia
Nicolae Ceausescu of Romania
Slobodan Milosevic...

A brilliant video put together, linking old film to modern music. Love the in car shots with back projection scenery. Can't get the funny thought out of my mind that there are people shaking the car from side to side, out of shot, to simulate movement!
Good find Paddy.
