I like this idea ;) (picturing Lady Day standing at a tea table declaring, "The first meeting of the Vintage Ladies' Glove-Wearing Support Society will now come to order!")
A fine thread idea.
Hmm..I'll try setting aside a quarter-hour to practice guitar in the mornings before work. I used to do this and it's both relaxing and helps get the ol' brain in gear.
Badger badger badger!! ;)

Hi Caledonia (I feel like I'm invoking the spirit of Scotland!)
I haven't received the suit yet, but the seller had closeup pictures of the garment showing tags which are definately pre-70s/80s. Late 40s jackets seem to have a more defined waist, a more natural shoulder, and often padding...
Actually that sounds like a great idea! it would exfoliate without being harsh/astringent on the skin. And not nuts, considering all those fancy-schmancy "sugar scrubs" and so forth you see on the market nowadays...
Look for any skin cream with hydroquinone (the active fading agent)...I have some great lotion that has hydroquinone, vitamin E, and sunscreen all together (important to keep the scar covered with sunscreen as scar tissue gets darker faster than regular skin.)
Another thing that works is...
Yep, I guess a good, old-fashioned root beer would be the closest relation to it in the soft drink family...Fun fact: "modern" sarsaparilla is not the same (i.e. not as good) as old-time sarsaparilla because a crucial ingredient in it, sassafras, was found by worrywart FDA to have a compound...

Disc now playing chez moi: Tim Buckley, "Live at the Troubadour 1969"
Flipping thru' my 1917 "Bartender's Companion"...
Here are a few, hope this helps!
AUDITORIUM COOLER
Into large Bar glass squeeze Juice of 1 Lemon.
1 teaspoonful Bar Sugar.
1 bottle Ginger Ale off the ice.
Stir; decorate with Fruit and Berries, Serve.
BLACK COW
Use a large Mixing...
Saving money? What's that?
I recently won this (40s beaded suit, the beading is all intact):
I only lowball-bid on it as a whim, I really needed a "business" suit and earlier had missed the auction of the suit I originally wanted.
Whoops, I was the only bidder on the beaded one!
Then of...
Agree about Lowe--I like the stuff he did with "Little Village" quite a lot. Your ipod list is great--I *love* Maria McKee, and the 1st Chris Issak album...
