I am choosing between the Akubra Sydney and the Borsalino Como. I am looking for something that will go well with dark suits. Based on the input already given, it appears the Como would be the better fit. I already have a Squatter, and I agree that the Akubras are some tough hats. I was...
I went in and brushed the underside of the brim in a counter-clockwise direction and the result was totally amazing. :eusa_clap The top and bottom now lie down exactly the same and the hat looks so very luxurious. :D This hat is definitely a keeper. Can't wait to show it off now. Thanks for...
Yes, I made certain that I brushed in opposite directions. The top side looked so nice, while the underside did not. That is why I was so puzzled. I definitely will not ruin the hat.
The best suggestion I have received so far is to start planning winter vacations in Chicago or New York so that...
I won a very nice silver-gray Borsalino on ebay. Well, it turns out that the felt is a long-hair type. This was not clearly evident in the auction photos. Anyway, I really do like the color of the hat, but I would like to eliminate the wild hairs. I have brushed the brim and crown of the hat and...
Akubra Color Question
I have an Akubra that is carbon gray in color. I may be able to acquire another one in charcoal gray. My question is whether the carbon gray and the charcoal gray are so similar that the two will look like the same hat. Can anyone provide insight on comparison of the two...
Please, please let us all know the response you receive. It probably would be worthy of placing in a new thread. I have a few borsalinos whose age I would like to determine.
When you contact Shudde Brothers, ask for Neal Shudde. He's a great guy and will help you any way he can. He's also a member of the FL under the user name of ShuddeBrosHats.
Bummer, ain't it? When we do get a cool snap, I end up wearing 2-3 hats on the same day just to say I got them in the rotation. Of course, if you are at work, that doesn't work out too well. But hey, I can always say the few hats I have do tend to display well on the shelf.
.... wife thinks...
I called a couple of times on Friday, but got no answer. Perhaps I can get the order in this upcoming week. Hopefully, they will have my size in stock. If I have to wait, it will be spring here soon, and I will have to wait until fall before wearing the fur felt again.
They all look fine to me. But I, too, share a similar situation with you. I am tending to acquire more and more of the vintage or straighter crowns. The taper on the modern fedoras make me think of "cone heads". But everyone else thinks the modern hats look good on me. So, I end up keeping all...
I have 8 felt homburgs and 2 straw homburgs. They look great with a suit and equally nice with dressy casual attire. In my opinion, you don't have to have the overcoat to make it work for you. You will always be a cut above when sporting a homburg.
I stumbled across this homburg on eBay. The BIN price really jumps out at you.
