It hasn't been cold enough to wear my Highwayman but I'll bite ...
First, I would have avoided putting Scotch tape on my Highwayman's back in an attempt to measure the length. ;) lol
Second, I might have specified a warmer lining. I got brown alpaca wool but it's not as thick as I...
Yes, it's normal. In fact, same thing happened to me and my Highwayman about three months ago. The area that was affected was rather small so I left it alone.
Take comfort, you're not alone. My Highwayman was about 25 weeks from order submittal to delivery.
I am at 9 weeks on my Veste de Rallye (ordered late June 2009) and I do not expect to see it before October at the earliest!
Agree with Kid Mac, it's just a matter of personal preference. Me, I'd actually prefer it a bit longer [huh], but it looks serviceable from the front.
From the rear, are you sensing that it's too long because it is draping too much on your backside? I'd be stunned if it was ....
I have no experience with Schott but I have a similar profile. My drop is around 10" which is why I went with Aero for a Highwayman. I too hate it when "standard" jackets that fit my shoulders balloon around my waist ... kinda defeats the purpose of having a small waist eh?
I posted pics of...
Don't feel bad, same thing basically happened to me (ordered Nov/Dec 2008, received June 2009). You're not alone. :)
PS I am flying to London in a few weeks and will be spending four or five days there. Too bad I don't have time to fly up to Scotland to see the Aero operation in person!
Still deciding on that one. I've had to cut back on my Aero spending for a while. I am waiting on a Veste de Rallye and in the meantime I have ton of home improvement projects to fund.
I'm not the OP but I ordered my Veste de Rallye with jetted pockets (i.e. no pocket flaps).
I'm a bit on the shorter side. Prominent pocket flaps tend to break up my vertical line (which isn't very long to begin with lol). As such, I specified a jetted pocket to try and keep the profile a...
Thanks for the info. I think that's the same measurement as I started from the same point. Maybe you and I have the same torso lengths, who knows. My Highwayman is 24" in the same measurement and it ends about an inch below my belt (and I like it that way). I was figuring my VdR to end a bit...
Excellent jacket, southern. :) I am waiting on a similar Veste de Rallye from Aero and can only hope it turns out just as well. I also am a typical size 42 jacket guy that sized down to a size 40 in hopes of getting a slimmer fit (full specs here) so I'm glad to see that yours worked out...
Sorry if I wasn't clear. I carry in the front pants pocket, not the jacket. This permits carry in the heat of summer (e.g. shorts) or winter (e.g. in pants -- normally you only wear one layer of pants lol). Besides not needing a cover garment, this consistency in your method of carry builds...
^^ Fiver, thanks for the detailed response. I am between bikes right now so if I got a Mercury it would only be for street use. All three of my Vansons are basically bike-only jackets so they're not seeing much use right now. I think I'll wait to see how my second Aero turns out and then make...
I haven't worn my Aero (with alpaca wool lining) enough to opine on this issue. In any event, I don't carry on the waist much these days. I prefer pocket carry as it permits me to carry "one gun, one place, all the time". Hard to wear a cover garment in the heat of the summer here in the...
^^ Dang, Tommer ... I thought I was the odd man out at a 25 week wait! I ordered about 5-6 weeks before you did (early December 2008). I hope you'll see your jacket soon.
My Highwayman is the regular FQHH but I have a Veste de Rallye on order that is mid-weight. I'm interested to see how others have done with their mid-weight jackets as well. Then again if you can wait until November or so (my last Aero order took 25 weeks) I can let you know how my Veste de...
