I have both, a Capricorn in gray and a Rink in cream. The dimensions, polystraw and sweatband are identical. As far as I can tell, the difference is that the Capricorn has a patterned ribbon pug, while the Rink ribbon is plain black grosgrain, and is a bit narrower. I bought the cream Rink...
Well, I tend to agree, but I have two Akubra polystraws and wear them alot, so could have recommended them.
In fact, I suspect that if someone ordered an Akubra and decided not to keep it, it could be sold here on the lounge in pretty short order - they are not expensive but the lead time can...
The Capricorn is listed as having a 60 mm brim, i.e. 2-3/8", mine is almost 2-1/2". The crown height is 4-1/4" IIRC. The Rink is the same in all respects.
Skyvue - Everything Australian had a size 62 Cap made custom for me - maybe they could do the same for size 63. However, before they were...
For sale is a NEW J Peterman English Travel Jacket, size 48 in Navy. The fit is more like a blazer, so not too roomy in the shoulders. I am a size 46 and it fits loose enough to wear a beefy cardigan inside, and not look too big in the shoulders. I'm selling because it is a heavier weight cotton...
Chasseur has a good point, and it's funny it's coming so late to this discussion. The Akubra polystraws are nearly indestructible and are pretty breezy with the open weave in the crown. I'm not sure why I didn't recommend them earlier - I like them and have two myself. The only drawback to them...
If it's just for beach wear, I'd suggest a Sunbody hat. They have some similar to the Biltmore you linked to, but 1-3/4" is a pretty narrow brim for the beach. I'm thinking 2-1/2" is more appropriate for sun protection. The cotton sweatband on their Guatemala palms is good when you're hot and...
In addition to the Hayman and the Capricorn (I have one in gray) there is also the Rink, exactly the same as the Cap in white and cream, and the Country Club with a very wide 3" brim in cream.
I put a ribbon on a cream Rink, as I didn't like the plain black pug it came with. It was pretty easy...
Here's an article in the NY Times announcing a show of hats owned by Theodor Geisel that will be on display at the NY Public Library starting on Monday Feb. 11 2013.

This is clearly not the case, look a little more closely. The collars are different heights and the sweaters are different lengths - just look at the relative position of the sleeve cuffs to the waist. The first has buttons through the placket (except for the top, off-center button) while the...
I saw someone wearing a sweater that looked almost identical to this one in a movie from the 1930s - he was a tough-guy type, wearing it with a flat cap - can't remember the movie, though. I like the high closing button and the straight hem so it can hang like a jacket.
I thought I'd post a new shawl-collar cardigan from J Peterman:

The sweater looks pretty good - but the real news is that they've actually included enlargeable PHOTOS of the 'web exclusive' items in the new 'Shop Ireland' section...
I thought of these when I first read this post, but they weren't on the website - sold out, I suppose. Now, they've reappeared so here they are:

Is this what your remember? I like the Brooks Bros too, but these come in olive drab...
Have been wearing my new Lodge shirt over the past week or so in the very cold weather in NY, either over a T-shirt or a polo. The fabric is called Umatilla, 10 ounce wool, machine washable. It seems very close to the Pendleton shirts I remember - the weight is about the maximum I can wear, I...
Hi Casechopper - I believe that is a Miller Douglas, their take on the Open Road, and appears to no longer be available.
A nice color, the fawn - but I recently picked up a tan new Whippet, and don't need another tan hat. Plus the brim is far too wide for me - but hopefully this should sell...
I hope it's a nice shirt - I've finally found a tailor who does a fantastic job of shortening sleeves. She did such a good job on a wool twill from J Peterman that I got for Xmas that I finally pulled the trigger on a Pendleton. I'm from the PNW originally, so these shirts really speak to me.
Looks pretty great, the proportions of that hat are really nice.
The modern Stetson Windham has a somewhat similar brim treatment - it's a bound brim that has been folded over and turned into an overwelt. It looks nice in person, even though I'm not crazy about the overall shape and proportions...
I have a Pendleton Lodge shirt on the way, now on sale. It's a washable medium-weight wool, weight not specified. I don't care about washable - the black/charcoal plaid looks exactly like a vintage shirt I wore out / grew out of after many years. I'm sure the quality won't be the same, but I'm...
