Thanks VERY much, Gentlemen! :yo:
TheHat, unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the "before" hat but it was a very typical tapered/short crown mid 50's hat with a 2 1/2 inch brim. Now the hat has a 2 3/8 inch brim because I had to use an 1/8 of an inch and was able to pull the felt for...
I just finished this one. It was a small 6 7/8 Mid 50's Knox 15 with a tapered and rounded 5 1/2 inch crown. I needed to up-size it and make the crown taller. I re-blocked it with a 5 7/8 inch crown, used a bit of brim width and up-sized it to a size 7. I used the original ribbon, but I took the...
I have a question for owners of actual 1920's suits. I'm trying to see what the "common" pants cuff height was in the mid - late 20's. I know that not everyone cuffed their pants, but for the ones who did, is there a typical height? I thought I read somewhere on the lounge that a 2 inch tall...
BEAUTIFUL Mallory, Alan! The colors are fantastic and it looks completely unworn. The triple row of stitching is superb and it looks wonderful worn brim up with a slight curl on the sides. :eusa_clap:eusa_clap
Could we please keep this thread only for the OLD Stetson tags that list Block Profile number AND Height? The reason I started this thread was to have documented proof of the block number used and how tall it was. Through pictures of the hat being open crown, the goal was to show what that...
I guess I will take reasonable offers. Currently its at $40 shipped. Shipping will cost between $5 - $8, so that makes the cap around $35 bucks. I thought that was pretty reasonable....
I'm as shocked as you guys are that it got that high. I have sold a bunch of pre-1940's stuff for ridiculous low prices on ebay, so I wanted to put a reserve on this one. With a 5 1/2 inch crown, it was a bit low for my liking. The crown was beautifully straight for 5 1/2 though.
Well, Nucky Thompson wasn't real.....but Enoch (Nucky) L. Johnson was.....

The show uses many aspects of the Real Nucky's life to portray a fictional character named Nucky Thompson. Nucky Johnson really did have a wife names Mabel who died...
The CAV edge on the KNOX 100 that I owned was absolutely perfect like yours, Alan. Even though I love CAV edges, they were not always done so well. I have owned Knox's and Dobbs, etc where the CAV edge is not even so it looks like a poorly executed hat. They must have chosen the BEST CAV 100%...
This one is being listed as a one day auction. The reserve is set at $150, I will not take any less than that for this amazingly beautiful and rare hat.
The condition of this hat is really incredible. Aside from the reed tie corrosion, its pretty much in mint condition...
For sale is a really neat flat cap. I believe it was made in the 60's/70's but is made to look like a cap from the 20's. It was made by Gramercy and although there is no fabric tag, I truly believe it to be linen based on the fabric weave pattern. Its very lightweight! It was Union made and has...
I was very impressed with the Tonak hat body. It was felted very densely, the color was beautiful, the color saturation was perfect, it pulled on a block very nice and took a sharp flange perfectly. It was actually a pleasure to work with. If it was slightly thinner and just a touch less...
