    cockpit usa a2 jacket

My Cockpit A-2 is labeled 48L. Tha G&B A-2 is 46T. Ironically the G&B fits larger then the Cockpit. I'm lucky I ordered those sizes. 46L in the Cockpit would have been too small and 48T in the G&B would have swam on me. The G&B has a "dressier" look to it as the goatskin on it has a much...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Is that the size 48 that was just on ebay? '49 is an exceptional year. The Kersey material is very thick, very tuff, but soft. I had a '49 coat which was too small for me so I resold it. Wish I had a '49 in my size (46 or 46Long).

Who Makes a Nice Pea Coat?

The old vintage ('40s, '50s, '60s) dark blue peacoats made from Kersey wool do not pill, nor does the lining material. The newer black ones ('80s, '90s) made from melton wool have lining material which pills like crazy. The melton wool does not pill it's the lining that does.

    Vintage Photos of Leather Jackets

I'm surprised they didn't cast Barney in "The Wild One". He would have been perfect in Johnnys' gang. (LOL).

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

My size is fairly rare, 46 or 46L. I found it a bit harder to find the older Kersey coats in my size. You may find these coats to be addicting as I had. The quality of coat that you get for their price is outrageous, ESPECIALLY the older Kersey coats. I have a small collection, but also have...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Peacoat, What I meant was to have the satin lining extended further down closer to the bottom hem. They would probably have to make the entire coat maybe a 1/2 size larger to make up for this increase of space from it. That would be one heck of a warm coat! It would also cover up the liners in...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

I bought a WWII Coast Guard peacoat a few years ago on ebay. It turned out to be a tinch tight so I resold it on ebay. Not sure if this is true for all WWII CG coats, but the Kersey material on the one I had was beautiful - thick, soft, heavy but very durable. I also have a WWII Navy peacoat...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Peacoat, I always wondered why they didn't extend the liner in the Melton coats further down towards the bottom of the coat? Maybe the coat would be too heavy? They would also have to enlarge the size of the coat a wee bit to make up for the increase due to the liner. That would be one hell of a...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Just thought I would throw in my two cents. Vintage Kersey coats in size 48 are VERY Rare. A couple of years ago I used to scour ebay, craigslist, etc. for size 46 peacoats (my size). I did this for 2-3 years. I remember coming up with only 2 or 3 coats in size 48, and only 1 or 2 were in...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

You can resell it back on ebay. I have resold coats I bought which turned out to not fit me. It's rare but you do come across a coat which has the incorrect size on the label. Your size is fairly common in Kersey coats. You shouldn't have a problem finding more vintage Kersey coats in the...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

I'll throw in my two cents and venture to say it's a very late WWII or late '40s ('46-'48?). The start of the 8 button coats came right after the 10 button WWII style coats. There were probably very few 8 button coats made with that WWII era "Naval Clothing Factory" label.

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

Usually when out in the bright sunlight things look "lighter" when outside. Peacoats which are very dark navy blue inside almost appear to be black. When outside - surprise they are navy blue. I have found that most caps and sweaters do not come in as dark a navy blue as the Kersey peacoats do...

    Wool Knit Cap?

Does anyone know what website has very large wool knit caps for men? I was looking for the plain, solid color navy type knit cap. All of the websites seem to have the one size fits all (except for me). These caps are never large, nor long enough. I never see any oversize cap. I can't be the only...

Questions About the United States Navy Peacoat

I don't think they are supposed to be itchy. The 100% wool is the reason though. I bought one of those in navy a few years ago. Found it to be quite small. I never wore it but gave it to my son who also never wore it. It was however large enough for him. I wear either a knit cap or my full head...
